Asus ROG G751JT-CH71 17.3″ Gaming Notebook with Nvidia 970M
The Asus ROG G751JT-CH71 belongs to the latest G751 Republic of Gamers 17.3-inch gaming notebook series. The G751JT-CH71 is a mid-range configuration, based on the Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M 3GB video card instead of the top-tier GTX 980M or lower mid-tier GTX 860M. Also, optional M.2-format solid state drive is missing, so the only storage device inside the laptop is a 1-Terabyte hard drive. RAM size is 16GB, down from 24 or 32GB on the higher-end models, but more than 8GB on the most basic configuration. The optical drive is DVD burner, so for Blu-ray compatibility you have to chose one of the more expensive models. As usual, this gaming laptop features a quad-core Intel i7 Haswell processor, namely the i7-4710HQ.
Besides the new 900M series graphics cards, there are many gaming-oriented improvements over the previous-gen G750 series. The most notable are inclusion of IPS wide viewing angle technology on the Full HD display, ASUS TurboMaster overclocking technology for a performance boost of up to 5%, upgraded “near-silent” cooling system consisting of dual independent fans and copper heatsinks, and GameFirst III which optimizes network for a lag-free gaming.
The laptop retains the old keyboard style with chiclet keys and red backlight. The overall design has been changed but still inspired by F-22 Raptor military plane. The chassis is made of aluminum and has an illuminated ROG logo on the lid. The thickness is 1.7″ on the thickest point and the system weighs 8.6 pounds.
The Asus G751JT-CH71, as same as all G751 models, has stereo speakers with subwoofer and a frontal web camera. It supports up to three external displays simultaneously, through HDMI 1.4, mini DisplayPort/FireWire, and VGA. For networking there’s 802.11AC Wi-Fi wireless and Gigabit Ethernet LAN. The laptop also has four USB 3.0 ports, Bluetooth, and a media card reader, so the connectivity feature set is quite admirable.
Asus says the battery life on this model lasts up to four hours, a half an hour more than the previous-gen models.
