The Asus Q501LA-BSI5T19 has RAM amount as the only core specs difference between it and its BBI5T03 sibling. The former has 8GB instead of 6GB, which is only a minor difference performance-wise since in normal use you’ll hardly ever reach 6GB not to mention 8GB of RAM usage. In addition, the Q501LA-BSI5T19 has Intel’s Wireless Display technology as an extra perk.

Generally, this machine is a thin 15.6-incher with aluminum chassis in dark gray color, fairly thin 0.9″ profile, touch-enabled full HD display, a mid-range Intel Core i5-4200U dual-core processor, a 750GB hard drive, and keyboard with backlight. The notebook doesn’t feature a DVD drive. Overall, this is a nice equipped laptop with a reasonable price and attractive elegant design which resembles pricier Apple’s Macbook Pros to some extent.

    Don’t buy this model computer. I bought this computer at Best Buy to use for college degree to study Architecture. I’ve had this computer less then two year and the hard drive has crashed two times. Now i have to send this computer in for a second time to have the it repaired and this time I’m not under Warranty and it’s going to cost me an Estimation of 140.00 dollars plus shipping to have my computer fixed. So please don’t buy this computer save your money and buy something better.

      Just replace the hhd with a ssd to increase the speed, you can probably find a 240 gb drive on amazon for around 30$. I would also upgrade the computer to a debian based distro of Linux to increase the speed of the machine as well.

      No, this model is Windows 8-only. There are many other similar Windows 7-based laptops on the market at similar prices. Windows 7 is especially wide-spread among business-class notebooks. Keep in mind that you’ll hardly find any touchscreen Windows 7 laptop. That’s understandable since Win 7 isn’t optimized for touch.
