Dell Inspiron 15 7000 7559 (i7559) 15.6″ Basic Gaming Laptop
The Dell Inspiron 15 7000 7559, also known as the i7559, is a basic 15.6-inch gaming laptop. It features the mid-range Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M 4GB GDDR5 dedicated video card instead of the high-end GTX 970M and 980M. Nevertheless, with a starting price of $799, the 7559 is one of the cheapest gaming notebooks on the market and capable of running all the latest game blockbusters. True, with lowered graphics detail settings and resolution in some of them.

The default display option is a 1920×1080-pixel Full HD panel. Optionally, available is 3840×2160 Ultra HD 4K screen with touch support. Both choices include IPS technology for the widest possible viewing angles.
The Inspiron 15 7559 / i7669 includes the 6th Generation Skylake upper-mid-range Intel Core i5-6300HQ or high-end i7-6700HQ processor. Both CPUs have quad cores and belong to the latest 6th Generation Skylake chip family. They provide not only enjoyable gaming experience, but also enough power for demanding tasks like photo and video editing or design creation. Depending on software, performance for these duties can be further improved by utilizing the dedicated video card. Of course, the CPUs can complete your daily home and office chores with ease.

Dell’s 7559 comes with either 8GB and 16GB of system memory. Both are sufficient for modern gaming and seamless multitasking, but the latter option adds more potential for running multiple RAM-intensive programs simultaneously. Storage options are a 1-Terabyte hybrid hard drive with added 8GB of solid state drive-based cache for snappier performance and a 1TB HDD combined with 128GB M.2 SSD for even better balance between capacity and speed.
Just like almost all modern gaming laptops, this model has an illuminated keyboard (except some configurations) and a built-in subwoofer bass speaker besides a pair of standard stereo speakers. The notebook also doesn’t lack any important feature in the networking and connectivity department. It sports 802.11AC Wi-Fi, Gigabit LAN, Bluetooth, HDMI out, three USB 3.0 ports, a combo audio port, and a media card reader.
Dell has included a capacious 74 WHr battery, which is claimed to provide “more than 10 hours” of power autonomy. But, you can’t expect the battery life to last so long if you run power-hungry games off the grid.
All parts are encased in a black plastic chassis with red accents. The laptop weighs in at 5.7 pounds which is a quite light weight for a gaming machine. Also, its profile of 1” is very thin for gaming notebooks’ standards. The bottom panel is easily removable. It’s held by only one screw, so you can access and replace RAM, storage, and battery easily.
The closest competitor of the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 7559 specs and price wise is the Lenovo Y700. HP is expected to release a similar system, too.

The audio drivers and software randomly uninstalled its self.

What is battery life like on the 4k as well as the 1080p version? Also what is its brightness level between the two screens?

I haven’t tested this laptop, but the 74 WHr battery is quite capacious. Generally 4K laptops have a shorter battery life by around 20 percent than FHD, with everything else being the same.
Here’s a review stating the battery on the FHD version can last up to 10 hours:
“A combination of some web browsing, writing emails, streaming music, and a bit of Youtube videos yielded around 9 hours of battery time at 50% brightness. So depending on your usage, between 8-10 hours of light/moderate use (non-gaming/no HD video streaming) seems about right.”

The only info I found about brightness is that the FHD 7559 version has 200 nits. That’s a mediocre brightness level.

Can we increase the RAM from 8 to 16 gb aftermarket?

Danijel Z –
Yes, you can. It has two SODIMM slots, so you can put 2 x 8GB in it. The laptop uses DDR3L 1600MHz memory, according to the official specs. RAM slots are easily accessible via a user-removable cover on the bottom of the chassis.

Can i have 2 hard drives for this model?

According to the official specs sheet, the laptop has a single bay for a traditional 2.5″ hard drive. However, it also has an M.2 slot for a solid state drive, so you can combine HDD with M.2 SSD storage.
