      The USB-C port on the GWTN156-11 only supports data, so no charging, according to Gateway.

    Is this device suitable for writing a Novel? Or is there software available for this purpose?

      The laptop offers a basic performance, but text processing software doesn’t demand a powerful laptop. So, it can be suitable for writing, despite being a basic laptop. For writing you can use programs like MS Office Word, which comes with this laptop for free for the 1st year. Or you can use free software like Google Docs or Libre Office.

      Based on this disassembly video, there’s no RAM slot, so you can’t upgrade RAM. It’s soldered onto the motherboard.

      I got this for a Christmas gift should I keep it in the s mode or not, also do I need additional antivirus download

      If you only run apps that are available now in S mode like the default Windows browser or apps from Microsoft Store, there’s no need to upgrade to full Windows and you don’t need antivirus software.

      But even if you decide to upgrade to full Windows for a full Windows software support, a 3rd party antivirus isn’t absolutely necessary. I personally run Windows 10 / 11 Home with it’s built-in antivirus software without any security issues for years.

      i got this this January 2021 from Walmart, and its hard to get things done. you gotta just look deep into it and find the stuff yourself. the Microsoft app store is small, not much. unlike androids were you can find many apps and stuff. but being a poor man, i love it. but i give it 3 stars. its alright tho. it comes in handy for movies and web searching.

      Hi, based on this video of the GWTN156-11BK, there is a single 2.5″ HDD / SSD slot, so you can put a 2.5-inch SSD with SATA connector drive in it to expand storage (different from RAM memory, which isn’t expandable). You can also use a 2.5″ HDD instead of SSD, but these are slow and not recommended.
