User Reviews, Questions and Answers

Below you can read and submit user reviews, questions, and answers about the HP 15-fd0095wm / 2BZ9UA#ABA. Thank you for your contribution.

  1. Question

    Arthur Hart

    Is the keybord backlit?

  2. Question

    Mozelle BL

Is there a cable to enable connection to larger monitor?

    • Dan

Hi, the laptop has HDMI video output port, so you can connect it to an external display that has HDMI input port (most monitors nowadays do have it). HDMI cable is not included with the laptop.

  3. Question

    Mark

Are you able to upgrade the RAM in this specific model? And if so, what is the max RAM it will support? I have read on different forums that it could support up to 64, but also have read 32; but this is also just for the 15 series, and not this specific model. Any help will be appreciated!

    • Dan

Hi, unfortunately we don’t have a clear info on that. This is the relevant service manual for the HP 15-fd0000 series, to which the 15-fd0095wm / 2BZ9UA#ABA belongs to: https://kaas.hpcloud.hp.com/pdf-public/pdf_7525191_en-US-1.pdf
and this is the RAM section of it:
      “Models with N305, N200, N100 processors
One SODIMM slot supporting up to 16 GB of RAM
      DDR4-3200, single channel support
      Supports the following configurations:
      ● 8 GB
      ● 4 GB
Models with 13xxP and 13xxU processors
Two SODIMM slots supporting up to 16 GB of RAM
      DDR4-3200 dual channel support
      Supports the following configurations:
      ● 16 GB
      ● 12 GB
      ● 8 GB”

Now, the 15-fd0095wm features the 12th Gen 12xxU, not the 13xxU. Given these are similar CPUs, I assume the 15-fd0095wm has 2 RAM slots too, making the upgrades possible. The included Core i5-1235U processor supports up to 64GB of RAM (2 x 32GB), so in theory the laptop should be able to support 64GB in total, but we don’t know if there’s any limitation on the motherboard / firmware preventing that. I think the RAM sizes listed in the manual are those offered by HP when selling the laptop, not necessarily maximal supported sizes by the hardware.

  4. Question

    brad

Is this laptop a good deal at $300?

    • Dan

I would say yes, considering you get a laptop with IPS screen and a very decent Core i5 CPU. True, it’s a 12th Gen Core i5 from 2022, but for the most common tasks the chip is excellent. The questionable thing is its 8GB RAM, so you might consider upgrading it to 16GB if you do multitasking a lot. Also, 256GB isn’t a huge SSD, but it’s reasonable at the $300 price point. The battery capacity of 41 WHr isn’t exceptional either, but it’s a common capacity in the lower-mid-range laptop category the HP 15 series belongs to.
