Dan –
Yes, it has a built-in DVD drive, which can read and write DVDs and CDs.
Question
Deborah –
My children were so very kind to order the HP Laptop 17 customized for Christmas for me. First, it came, today, from China only in the shipping box (with rubber styrofoam on the left and the right side to keep it from shifting in the box. Both the top and the bottom are scratched with a defect in the pattern on the top. I haven’t set it up yet. Forget getting through to customer service to get answers (I went in circle after circle. Did anyone also have these problems?

Question
James –
Does it have a TPM chip?

Dan –
So far I only found that it “supports Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0” on page 4 of the manual linked to the 17t-by300 on hp.com: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06148960
However, I’m not sure whether this means every configuration has TPM chip or its only optional.
Question
Richard –
Can I add SSD at a later time if I just go with 1TB HD

How do you like this laptop so far
Dan –
Hi, on pages 23 and 45 of the notebook’s manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06148960
it says the laptop has an M.2 slot for solid state drives. So, it is possible to add an M.2 NVME solid state drive alongside the 1TB hard drive which is located in a 2.5″ drive bay.
Just keep in mind that the SSD in this case is an “Authorized Service Provider part”.
“CAUTION: Components described in this chapter should only be accessed by an authorized service provider.
