HP Envy x360 15-u110dx Convertible 15.6-Inch Laptop

The HP Envy x360 15-u110dx is a 15.6-inch laptop and tablet hybrid PC with a fully rotatable hinge. 15.6″ convertibles are a new breed of Windows-based computers. Similar systems such as the Asus Flip and Toshiba Radius P55W are also available, but the 15-u110dx is the first to boast the latest 5th Generation Intel Core “Broadwell” processors. This Full HD touch notebook with backlit keyboard and aluminum palmrest comes with the 5th Gen Core i5-5200U mid-tier chip, incorporating the Intel HD 5500 series integrated graphics. The CPU can juggle the daily home and office computing tasks with ease and is suitable for occasional photo and video editing which are more demanding tasks. The HD 5500 GPU can be used for light indie and browser gaming, as well as for MMORPGs on low settings and some older 3D-rendering titles. 8GB of system memory is sufficient even for heavy multitasking. The hard drive is capacious, too. It provides 1 Terabyte of storage space. Unfortunately it spins at only 5,400rpm, so it lags behind the 7200rpm and hybrid HDDs with Flash-based cache, not to mention the solid state drives.

Other potential downsides for prospective buyers are a lack of IPS screen technology for wider display viewing angles and absence of a built-in DVD drive. Also, having both tablet and laptop functionality in a single device is great, but keep in mind that the HP Envy x360 15-u110dx is quite hefty in tablet mode. It weighs in at 5.3 pounds. HP estimates the machine can run up to 5.5 hours on a single charge, which is an excellent battery life for a full-size touch notebook.
