HP 14-DK0002DX Cheap 14″ Laptop (AMD A9 with Radeon R5, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD)

The HP 14-DK0002DX laptop, with its $200 price tag during Best Buy’s Black Friday sales, has a great chance to be one of the best selling laptops this holiday season. It’s a 14-inch laptop with basic computer components and great portability.

The lightweight 3.2-pound laptop, covered with silver and gray-colored plastics, features a low-end display with mediocre HD picture sharpness, narrow viewing angles, and glossy (glare) coating.

Under the hood, the HP 14-DK0002DX packs the basic AMD A9 series A9-9425 processor with the Radeon R5 integrated graphics. It’s paired with 4GB of system memory (RAM). This computing solution is satisfactory only for non-demanding computing tasks – web surfing, emails, or MS Office programs, and the lightest PC games. Multi-tasking potential isn’t great because of the basic RAM size of 4GB. With 4GB, you can run only a few programs and browser tabs at the same time without slowdowns. For a smoother user experience, recommended are mid-range or better laptop processors, such as the AMD Ryzen series or Intel Core U series, as well as 8GB or more RAM. What helps a great deal performance-wise is inclusion of a solid state drive instead of slower hard drive storage. On the other hand, the provided 128GB SSD capacity isn’t great if you want to store large amounts of data.

The HP 14-DK0002DX has a 41 WHr battery. This is a mediocre capacity, but the included computer components are power-efficient. HP claims the notebook can have a battery life of “up to 10.5 hours”.

By default, the 14-DK0002DX comes pre-loaded with Windows 10 Home operating system in security-oriented S mode. S mode allows you to run only app store-based Windows apps. If you wan’t to run standard Windows programs besides app store-based apps, you can switch to full Windows 10 Home free of charge.
