Lenovo ThinkPad T460 14″ Business Laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad T460 is a 14-inch business-class notebook PC with durable military-spec-certified chassis, mainstream main internal components, and advanced business-class system management and security features.

The ThinkPad T460, smaller brother of the 15.6-inch T560, offers either 1366×768 or 1920×1080 resolution on its 14″ screen with IPS wide viewing angles and optional touchscreen support. The recognizable ThinkPad keyboard with ergonomic keys has backlight. A dedicated numeric pad which can be found on the T560 is missing on the T460, but the trackpad with integrated click buttons and traditional TrackPoint stick in the middle of the keyboard are present.

Besides dimensions and weight, a big difference between the 3.8-pound ThinkPad T460 and 5-pound T560 is estimated battery life. Both laptops include PowerBridge solution, comprised of an internal battery and an external hot-swapable battery which can be replaced without system reboot. But, the T460 has a smaller 23 WHr internal battery instead of a 44 WHr. External battery options are the same. They come in 23 WHr, 47 WHr, and 72 WHr capacities. Lenovo estimates the T460 can provide up to 18 hours of battery life with the highest capacity external battery, down from 24 hours of the T560.

The Lenovo ThinkPad T460 comes with the lower-mid-range Core i3-6100U chip as the most basic choice. Furthermore, you can select the mid-range i5-6200U, its slightly faster i5-6300U sibling with vPro system management technology, and upper-mid-range i7-6600U with vPro. All of these CPUs belong to the 6th Generation Intel Core “Skylake” family and feature the Intel HD 520 integrated graphics. System memory size goes up to 32 Gigabytes. For storage, you can choose one of the solid state drives, with maximal capacity of 512GB.

The rest of the specs sheet includes stereo speakers with sound enhanced by Dolby Home Theater, a 720p webcam, 802.11AC Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet LAN network interfaces, optional 4G LTE network support, Bluetooth, three USB 3.0 connectors, a mini DisplayPort and an HDMI video port, a combo audio jack, multi-format media card reader, and a docking connector. Furthermore, there are a fingerprint reader, storage ecryption, and a SmartCard reader to improve system security.b

The ThinkPad T460 comes pre-loaded with Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Pro, or Windows 7 Pro operating system.
