AMD Elite A10-5745M CPU with Radeon HD 8610G Graphics (Overview)

The AMD Elite Quad-Core A10-5745M Accelerated Processor with AMD Radeon HD 8610G graphics, 2.1-2.9GHz clock speed, and 4MB of cache, is a higher-end part in AMD’s CPU line for the thin and light laptops. It’s an alternative to the Intel Core-series ultrabook processors. The AMD Elite series generally provide a lower performance-per-Watt ratio than the latest Intel Core counterparts, but they are cheaper and can lower the price of the laptop. In addition, four cores on the AMD chips isn’t comparable to the same number of cores on the respective Intel CPUs, because the former supports two computing treads per core. AMD’s quad-core with a single treand per core rather corresponds to Intel’s dual-core.

That doesn’t mean the A10-5745M is incapable of completing your daily home and office tasks effortlessly and, as a big plus, it has faster integrated graphics than Intel on similar processors.

AMD Elite A10-5745M Quad-Core Processor Benchmark

According to the PassMark benchmark results, the A10-5745M has speed on par with the A8-4500M from the previous AMD laptop CPU generation. However, the benchmarked A10-5745M is much more power efficient, which leads to a longer battery life on laptops with it. It consumes 25 Watts, while the A8-4500M is a 35-Watt part. On the other side, the comparable and commonly used 15-Watt Intel i5-4200U from the latest 4th Generation Intel Core family is noticeably faster, despite having much lower power consumption.

As a plus, the aforementioned Radeon HD 8610G graphics is faster than the corresponding Intel 4400-series. It has a PassMark GPU score of 651 versus 506 points of the Intel HD 4400.

On Youtube, there are a couple of videos showing what gaming looks like on this processor. In newer games, you’ll get playable framerates at lower graphics detail settings and resolution.

  1. I own the exact laptop but with 4Gb graphics memory, 8Gb of ram n 2.9GH,really great machine. It runs Call of duty Ghost, Far Cry 4,Advanced Warefare, at ultra graphics settings… only in watchdogs i have to lower the settings to High.. but apart from that its a great machine

  4. How does the AMD radeon HD 8610g / 8670m compare with intel hd 4600 graphics? I’m looking at two laptops one with the AMD A10 5745m and one with the intel core i5 4200m. I want to be able to play game at a decent framerate (games like; arma 2/3, minecraft (with mods), dayZ standalone) I will also need the laptop for university but I will probably only using word and powerpoint. I was just wondering what laptop I would be better off getting, they are both HP laptops and all the other specs are the same.

    • I have this sleek book and I play a ton of games right now I’m playing borderlands 2 for the second time on PC and it runs at about 30fps at lowest settings but I did happen to play some minecraft and it ran at a smooth 90fps and arms 2 at about 30fps.

    • It will be good, but there are better solutions for video editing on the market. I always prefer the Intel i5 and i7 for video editing, especially if you use software with QuickSync support. QuckSync is included in the i3/i5/i7 chips and speeds up encoding a lot.

  5. Would you please provide your feedback on these two laptops.

Includes Dell Inspiron M731R 5735 laptop, six-cell lithium-ion battery, AC adapter, and PC Treasures software (ships separately)
2.1GHz AMD A10-5745M quad-core processor with 2.9GHz Turbo Clock Speed and 4MB cache
    17.3″ diagonal HD+ display with 1600×900 resolution
    8GB DDR3 1600MHz memory
    1TB 5400 RPM hard drive

    and the second laptop is:
Includes Inspiron i17RM-67756sLV notebook, six-cell battery, AC power adapter, and manual
2.0GHz Intel Core i7-3537U processor with 4MB cache
    Intel HM76 Express chipset
    17.3″ diagonal HD widescreen display
    8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM
    1TB 5400 RPM hard drive

My question is which one is better for pushing resource intensive software “Photoshop”. I’m looking for speed when loading and working my photographs while using Photoshop & if they will help with web browsing (this item is secondary), Thank you in advance for all your assistance.
