Sony VAIO SE Thin 15.5″ Laptop Hits the Market

Sony has put on sale the VAIO SE 15.5-inch laptop, featuring Intel’s 2nd generation processors, AMD switchable graphics, and a thin design.

The Sony VAIO VPCSE190X CTO is the available configurable model, which comes with either the Intel Core i5-2430M or i7-2640M processor and AMD Radeon HD 6470M 512MB or HD 6630M 1GB video cards. Graphics work can be swithched to the on-processor Intel HD intergrated GPU for power savings. Other innards include up to 8GB of RAM, up to 750GB of hard drive space or up to 1TB of solid state storage using dual SSDs, and a DVD burner, Blu-ray combo, or Blu-ray player.

The 15.5″ display is full HD and features LED backlight and anti-glare coating.

The 4400mAh lithium polymer battery – good for up to six hours of run time – can be accompanied by additional 4400mAh sheet unit which mounts on the bottom of the VAIO SE and extends the battery life to maximal 12 hours.

Sony’s 4.4-pound laptop and stands out from the crowd with built-in Wireless Display tech (WiDi) and an elegant 0.95 inches thin chassis made of carbon fiber and aluminum, which comes in black or silver color. The VAIO SE resembles design of its smaller siblings – the VAIO SA and SB, but adds numeric pad alongside its isle-style keyboard.

Other features include a built-in webcam, Dolby Home Theater-certified audio, fingerprint reader, HDMI, Wi-Fi, Gigabit LAN, Bluetooth, video output via VGA and HDMI, a single USB 3.0 and a pair of USB 2.0 ports, and Memory Stick PRO Duo and SD memory card slots.
