Online sellers today started taking pre-orders for the Acer Aspire S3-951-6646 13.3-inch Ultrabook.
With a $900 price tag, the Aspire S3-951-6646 is the cheapest ultrabook we know, because other start at around $1,000.
The S3-951-6646 configuration is a mid-range one, since it features the Intel Core i5-2467M 1.6GHz “Sandy Bridge” ultra-low voltage processor and the notebook will be also available with a Core i3 and i7. The 6646 model has a 320GB hard disk accompanied by a 20GB solid state drive for ultra-fast system wake up, as well as 4GB of RAM, and a claimed battery life of up to six hours with a 3-cell Lithium polymer unit. This and other ultrabooks use the Intel HD integrated graphics.
The Acer Aspire S3-951-6646 looks the same as the model we reviewed a month ago. It’s a MacBook Air-like silver brushed-aluminum laptop with a thinnes of only 0.51 inches, 3 pounds of weight, 1,366×768 glossy screen, chiclet keyboard, a 1.3MP web camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, Dolby audio, down-firing stereo speakers and ports located on the back. These are two USB connectors, and an HDMI output, while headphone/mic ports and 2-in-1 media card reader are on the sides.
