First 15″ Ultrabook Announced – Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3

Acer has announced the Aspitre Timeline Ultra M3, the industry’s first 15″ ultrabook. Acer has managed to pack a DVD burner and the Nvidia Geforce GT 640M video card into the Aspire Ultra M3’s 20mm thin chassis.

This large ultrabook is based on the current generation of Intel Core ultra-low voltage “Sandy Bridge” processors. It is claimed to have a battery life good for up to 8 hours of operation and to wake pre-loaded Windows from sleep mode in just 1.5 seconds.

Other highlights of the Aspire M3 are hybrid hard drive and solid state drive options and Dolby audio.

To make a full size laptop experience in an ultrabook form factor complete, Acer has included a numeric keypad alongside the chiclet keyboard. The casing is made of plastics, except the alumonum lid.

Unlike many ultrabooks which won’t arrive to thearket before summer, the Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3 will become available this month. The price hasn’t been disclosed.
