Asus ROG GL752 (GL752VW-DH71 / GL752VW-DH74) Mid-Range 17.3” Gaming Laptop with GeForce GTX 960M GPU
The Asus ROG GL752 and available GL752VW-DH71 and GL752VW-DH74 configurations are mid-range gaming laptops with a 17.3-inch display.
As opposed to the G752 ROG with the upper-mid-range to top-speed Nvidia GeForce GTX 965M, 970M, and 980M video cards, the slimmer and lighter Asus ROG GL752VW-DH71 and GL752VW-DH74 feature the mid-tier GeForce GTX 960M 2GB dedicated GPU. For processor, they have the latest Intel Skylake quad-core i7-6700HQ.
Both GL752 versions come with 16GB of DDR4 memory and non-touch anti-glare display with 1080p resolution and IPS technology for wide viewing angles, while the keyboard sports red backlighting. The only difference between them is data storage. The GL752VW-DH71 comes with a mechanical 1-Terabyte hard drive at 7,200rpm, whereas the GL752VW-DH74 additionally includes 128GB of M.2 solid state drive storage. RAM and storage are user-replaceable and the laptop has an easily-removable cover on the bottom of the chassis for access to these components.

Other features include trackpad with integrated buttons, stereo speakers with a subwoofer, a DVD optical drive, 720p web camera, three traditional USB 3.0 ports and one new USB-C 3.1 type port, HDMI and mini DisplayPort video outputs, separate microphone and headphones audio jacks, an SD memory card reader, 802.11AC Wi-Fi wireless, Gigabit LAN, and Bluetooth.

The included 4-cell 48 WHr battery is claimed to provide up to five hours of battery life.
Design-wise, the GL752 (GL752VW-DH71 / GL752VW-DH74) with soft-touch palmrest and brushed aluminum-lid is much simpler than the heavily-ornamented G752.
The GL752(VW) weighs in at 6.6 pounds and is 1.3” thick, as opposed to the G752 which starts at 9 pounds and 1.7”.
The gaming notebook currently starts at $1,100.

Note: The pictures were taken at Intel’s IFA 2015 booth earlier this month.

I have this laptop and am very happy with it. I can actually work and/or add to it on my own. Well over 5 years old now. The only things I have had to replace are the battery, keyboard and charger so far.

USB-C port is for thunderbolt 3 or USB3.1?
We already knew G752 is thunderbolt 3, but GL752?

Danijel Z –
I haven’t found Thunderbolt listed in any GL752 specs sheet I encountered, so I assume its only USB 3.1.

Here you are. The upgrade panel is on the front part, held by two screws.
