The Asus G752 with its G752VL, G752VT, G752VY sub-series is a traditional gaming notebook with a big 17.3-inch display, powerful video cards and processors, and bold gaming-centric design.

The G752 brings several important improvements over its G751 precursor. The new version uses the 6th Generation Intel Core “Skylake” processors instead of the 4th Gen “Haswell”. The performance bump isn’t significant, but the Skylake brings a generally better performance-per-Watt ratio and improved multimedia capabilities. Available CPU parts are the Intel Core i7-6700HQ quad-core and overclockable i7-6820HK quad-core. The new laptop version adds support for DDR4 2,133MHz system memory instead of only DDR3 and you can now have up to 64GB of RAM instead of “just” 32GB. Asus has made improvements in the storage department by including a 2 Terabyte hard drive option besides a 1TB HDD and M.2 solid state drives of up to 512GB. Also, Asus has added an optional Ultra HD 4K 3840×2160 IPS display option, besides the standard Full HD 1920×1080 IPS. Another innovation is Nvidia G-Sync technology, which is a standard on all G752 models instead of being just an optional feature. Furthermore, the PC maker has included Thunderbolt 3.0 technology for blazing fast up to 40 Gbps data connection to compatible external devices, while being compatible with USB-C, DisplayPort, and PCI Express standards. Finally, the cooling solution is now dust-resistant, keeping internal components cleaner.

On the software side, pre-loaded OS is Windows 10 instead of old 8.1. The news is that the G752 will be available with Windows Pro version besides standard Home.

Asus G752 (G752VL, G752VT, G752VY) Display

The most important parts gaming-wise, the graphics card options, remained the same. The laptop uses the Nvidia GeForce GTX 900-series video cards. Namely, the upper-mid-range GTX 965M with 2GB GDDR5 video memory, higher-end GTX 970 with either 3 or 6GB VRAM, and the top-of-the-line GTX 980M with 4 or 8GB VRAM.

Here’s a breakdown of differences of the Asus G752 configurations:

  • The Intel Core i7-6700HQ CPU, support for up to 64GB DDR4 RAM, up to 2TB hard drive storage, and Full HD display resolution are standard on all models.
  • The Asus G752VL comes with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 965M 2GB video card and up to 256GB M.2 SSD. It weighs in at 8.95 pounds and is 1.7″ thick.
  • The G752VT includes the GeForce GTX 970M 3GB or 6GB and expands SSD capacity up to 512GB. Weight and thickness are the same as on the G752VL.
  • The G752VY is packed with the GTX 980M 4GB or 8GB, optionally comes with the Intel Core i7-6820HK CPU and 4K screen, and provides up to 512GB SSD. The G752VY is bulkier than the G752VL and G752VT, since it measures 2.1″ in profile and weighs in at 9.6 pounds.

Other important features of the Asus G752 / G752VL, G752VT, G752VY are a gaming-optimized keyboard with backlight and anti-ghosting 30-key rollover, trackpad with physically separated buttons, optical drive which can be either a DVD writer, DVD writer / Blu-ray player combo drive, or DVD / Blu-ray writer, stereo speakers with subwoofer, webcam, mini DisplayPort and HDMI video outputs, four USB 3.0 ports (and USB-C / Thunderbolt 3.0 port), 802.11AC Wi-Fi, Gigabit LAN, and Bluetooth.
