Asus Q503UA-BHI5T16 / Q503UA-BSI5T17 15.6″ 2-in-1 Laptop with Intel i5 CPU, 8GB / 12GB RAM, 1TB HDD
The Asus Q503UA-BHI5T16 and Q503UA-BSI5T17 is a full-size convertible laptop with a 15.6-inch display, the 6th Gen Intel Core i5-5200U processor, and a 1-Terabyte hard drive. The Q503UA-BHI5T16 has 8GB of system memory, whereas the Q503UA-BSI5T17 includes 12GB. That’s the only difference between these two models.
The Asus Q503UA-BHI5T16 / Q503UA-BSI5T17 draws attention with its stately elegant and sleek design. The shell is made of brushed aluminum in black color and the profile is 0.9″ thick. The whole system weighs in at 4.6 pounds, making in one of the lightest 15.6-inch notebooks on the market.
The multitouch screen mounted on a fully-rotatable hinge features crispy Full HD resolution and wide viewing angles backed by IPS technology. For input you can also use the backlit keyboard with dedicated numeric pad and button-less trackpad.
The display and computing are powered by the latest 6th Gen Intel Core i5-6200U Skylake mid-tier dual-core processor with the Intel HD 520 integrated graphics. The CPU solution is excellent for everyday home and office tasks and satisfactory for demanding work like video and photo editing. 8GB and 12GB of RAM both ensure smooth operation even with many browser tabs and programs opened simultaneously. The higher capacity option provides more headroom for very intensive multitasking, but most of the time choosing either 8 or 12 GB memory won’t have any noticeable effect on performance. The 1TB HDD at 5,400rpm offers a plenty of space for your files and programs, but as a downside it’s a slow storage device.
Except a DVD burner which is lacking on the Asus Q503UA-BHI5T16 / Q503UA-BSI5T17, all other necessary and common notebook features are included. The machine has stereo speakers, a 1MP webcamera, Wi-Fi 802.11AC and Gigabit Ethernet LAN network connections, Bluetooth, three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI port, a combo audio connector, and a media card reader.
There’s no info on battery life provided by a built-in 4-cell battery.

How does this work for drawing with a stylus .

Danijel Z –
The screen doesn’t have a digitizer panel which enables advanced pen input like pressure sensitivity. So, you can use only simple “capacitive” pens. I haven’t tried them on this model, but they generally work the same on all modern multi-touch laptop screens.
Joseph –
Can this be used as a good gaming laptop?

Joseph –
Say, for example playing games such as Arkham City, Alien Isolation, No Man’s Sky, Fallout 4, etc.
Danijel Z –
No, i think.
Maybe you’ll be able to play some of these decently on lowest settings, but for any serious gaming you’ll need a laptop with a dedicated video card like the Nvidia 940M, 950M or higher.
This notebook has only basic integrated Intel HD 520 graphics. Gaming performance is similar to this: http://laptoping.com/gpus/product/intel-hd-520-graphics-specs-reviews/

Nick, call ASUS and tell them your laptop keyboard isn’t lighting up, they will walk you through fixing it. I had the same problem with my ASUS Q503U.

I just bought this computer, but it is 12 total ram and 1tb.. the quality and feel are outstanding the processor is fast and much more responsive. I had the Toshiba Radius and returned it as it was sluggish. It looks and feels like it is worth twice as much the aluminum outshell and the recess keyboard are a smart design for ising a as a tablet, when laying flat the keys do not touch a hard surface. The Toshiba had a raised edge and it cut in to my arms and this was their solution for letting tablet lay flat. Asus has them beat along with Lenova, Dell and others

Graphics isn’t upgradeable on this laptop. Only rare notebooks on the market, mostly in the gaming category, have upgradeable video cards.
