HP 15-DB0011DX Cheap 15.6″ Laptop (AMD A6 CPU, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD, Jet Black)
The HP 15-DB0011DX is a very affordable 15.6-inch laptop. It’s usually priced below $300. The 15-DB0011DX offers entry-level performance with its AMD A6-9225 budget-class processor, basic RAM size of 4GB, and mechanical hard drive storage with 1TB capacity. The A6-9225 is a rarely used processor. Its performance is only a tad faster than the more popular A6-9220, because of a slight speed boost of 0.1 GHz. These dual-core chips can handle the basic day-to-day computing tasks of the average user, but they are not suitable for heavier duties like video editing. Also, their AMD Radeon R4 graphics processor is suitable only for some non-demanding PC games. This machine has a DVD writer drive built-in. The included 3-cell battery has a capacity of 41 WHr. We have no info on exact battery life, but you can expect around 4 hours of autonomy based on the notebook specs.
The display of the HP 15-DB0011DX is a usual low-cost 1366-by-768-pixel panel without IPS wide viewing angles and without touch input support. All the components are packed in a maglia-textured jet black chassis made of plastics, which also holds a non-backlit keyboard with a dedicated numeric pad and a trackpad with physical left and right click buttons. On the sides of the laptop there’s a decent array of ports and slots, including 3 USBs, HDMI out, an SD card reader, Ethernet LAN network jack, and a combo mic / headphones port. For wireless connectivity, the laptop provides Wi-Fi support for older network standards – up to 802.11N, not the latest 802.11AC. The 15-DB0011DX has Bluetooth built-in.

About the slowest computer I’ve ever come to have. I got it for my work for when I need to save files and send emails and in all fairness it has wasted more of my time than I did save. I’ve had to go back to using my partner’s computer at work and it makes me very upset I’ve wasted money on this. HP NO MORE..

Danijel Z –
It was released in 2018. But it isn’t much different from older similar budget laptops in terms of screen, internals, and design.

I’m looking to access the fan, is it safe to remove the entire top part around the keyboard? I wouldn’t want to disconnect anything by accident. But my fan is whirring incredibly loud and I’m looking to dust it off or replace it outright.

Can this be upgraded with a SSD?
Notify me of replies Unwatch this thread
Danijel Z –
Yes, it can be upgraded with a 2.5″ SATA SSD. But, the laptop doesn’t have a dedicated opening for the storage device for upgrades by the user,, so you will have to remove the whole bottom of the chassis.
Ethan Martz –
Can I upgrade the CPU from what I’ve seen/experienced the CPU underpowers the GPU
Notify me of replies Unwatch this thread
Danijel Z –
No, you can’t unfortunately. Most modern laptops don’t have replaceable CPUs, including this one. Only a few high end laptop models have replaceable CPUs and GPUs.

No, it doesn’t have a SIM card slot. But you can connect the laptop to a router of a mobile carrier, or a USB stick mobile modem.

can the standard graphics card be upgraded? (swapped out). or is it non-removable?
Notify me of replies Unwatch this thread
Danijel Z –
No, it isn’t upgradeable. It’s a graphics processor integrated in the main processor, which is soldered onto the motherboard.

Jeff –
is the standard memory able to be upgraded? What is the max it can support and 1 or 2 slots for memory.

Danijel Z –
According to the notebook’s maintenance manual, the laptop has a single RAM slot which supports up to 8GB.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05985640 (page 2)
So, you can only replace your existing 4GB with 8GB. Keep in mind that HP says RAM on this model isn’t user upgradeable, which means there’s no opening on the bottom of the chassis for easy access to the RAM slot. You’ll have to remove the whole bottom cover, DVD drive, and battery to replace RAM. And that could possibly void your warranty.
Josh –
Is it possible to upgrade the gpu or cpu with this laptop, if so how do I disassemble it?
Danijel Z –
No, the CPU and GPU are on the same chip, which is soldered onto the motherboard.
