HP Envy TouchSmart m6-n010dx
The HP Envy TouchSmart m6-n010dx is a 15.6-inch laptop PC for consumers. Besides the touchscreen display and full-size backlit keyboard with number pad, for interaction with Windows 8 and programs the laptop uses brand new Control Zone technology as seen previously on the HP Spectre 13 ultrabook. Basically, it’s a touchpad with advanced multitouch gesture support.
In other aspects, the HP m6-n010dx doesn’t offer any novelties. It’s a mainstream notebook with the usual 1366×768 resolution and mid-range A10-5750M processor with the Radeon HD 8650G integrated graphics, with performance comparable to the widely adopted Intel Core i5-4200U with Intel HD 4400 IGP. The notebook has 6 Gigabytes of RAM memory, which is sufficient for heavy multitasking. The hard drive has a capacity of 750GB, sitting on the middle of the road between the common 500GB and generous 1 Terabyte found in higher-end laptop configurations.
According to HP, this notebook is made of glass-fiber, with soft-touch feel on the surfaces. It comes in “natural silver” color. The height of the chassis is 1.2″ which isn’t too thick nor thin, while the weight of 6.1 pounds is on the hefty side since similar laptops without optical drives weigh about 5 lbs.
The connectivity feature set is quite good, with four USBs, HDMI output connector, media card reader, Wi-Fi, Ethernet LAN, and Bluetooth. What’s missing is the old VGA video port.
The battery inside the m6-n010dx has six cells, but we have no info on battery life.

Within a year, the left hinge broke. There are a ton of forums on HP Support about the issue. It is a design flaw on their part and they will take no blame for it. The screen is too heavy to be supported by the two flimsy hinges, and the casing is breaking apart on the left side. The computer is under warranty and HP still wants nearly $200 to fix THEIR mistake. This is not mentioning the multiple issues with the touchpad, or the fan that runs constantly, very LOUDLY. The laptop is beautiful otherwise, but these are hefty issues. Wish I had more positive things to say about this laptop. Last one I will be purchasing from HP, that’s for sure.

Hate the control zone…you can’t rest your hand on it to type without causing the pointer to jump all over the place and the worst thing is you can’t disable it.

I bought a computer on a whim because my HP Compaq battery life was failing. So happy it ended up being this gorgeous thing. I love the touchsmart screen and control pad. No CD/DVD drive so its very, very light. A very good buy.
