The HP Pavilion x2 (10t-n100) model for 2015 is an affordable 2-in-1 PC with extreme flexibility. The 10.1-inch multimode device can be used as a laptop, converted to a tablet with folded keyboard, a multimedia stand with the screen facing backwards, multimedia “tent”, or you can detach the keyboard and have a standalone tablet. Its magnetic hinge mechanism replaces the keyboard cover-like solution of the previous-generation Pavilion x2. Other innovations are use of the latest USB-C port and front-facing speakers.
The 2-in-1 comes with the latest generation Intel Atom “Cherry Trail” X5-Z8300 processor, with noticeably improved graphics performance as the main advantage over the previous “Bay Trail”. The screen resolution is 1280×800, which is not as sharp as Full HD 1920×1080, but IPS technology for wide viewing angles is present. As usual for this type of device, the Pavilion x2 has 2GB of system memory, and 32GB or 64GB (recommended) of eMMC-based data storage.
Besides already mentioned USB-C, which is also used for battery charging, and Bang & Olufsen-branded stereo speakers, the x2 has a 720p webcam, traditional full-size USB 2.0 port, micro HDMI video connector, and a microSD media card reader.
The 2-cell 33WHr battery is claimed to provide “up to 10.75 hours of battery life playing full HD video”.
The tablet portion alone weighs 1.3 pounds and 2.5 pounds with the keyboard attached to it.
It is available in three colors: “Blizzard White”, “Sunset Red”, and “Turbo Silver”.
The Pavilion x2 2015 comes with Windows 10 Home pre-installed.
