The Lenovo IdeaPad 530s-15IKBR, also known as 530s 15, is a thin-and-light 15.6-inch laptop. The 530s-15IKBR / 530s 15 looks remarkable with its extremely thin display bezels and sleek profile of 0.65″. The aluminum-topped notebook weighs in at only 3.7 pounds, which is a very light weight for a 15.6-incher. The IdeaPad 530s 15 looks similar to its cheaper 330s sibling, but the latter lacks some important features – IPS screen technology for wide viewing angles and Full HD display resolution. These features are present on the 530s.
Currently, there are only a few Lenovo IdeaPad 530s-15IKBR / 530s 15 configurations available. You can find them on the official Lenovo store.
- 81EV000HUS: Intel Core i5-8250U, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD – $750
- 81EV000JUS: Intel Core i7-8550U, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD – $950
- 81EV000LUS: Intel Core i7-8550U, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD – $1,100
- 81EV000KUS: Intel Core i7-8550U, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD – $1,250
The available i5-8250U and i7-8550U processor choices are both excellent for usual home and office computing and good for heavier tasks as well. The i7 variant is recommended if you want maximal processing power in this type of a laptop. The i5 models are cheaper, without lagging behind the i7 much. All of these configurations rely on the Intel UHD 620 integrated graphics, which can run only basic PC games. Lenovo is also expected to release IdeaPad 530s configurations with the Nvidia GeForce MX130 and MX150 entry-level dedicated video cards which are noticeably faster than the UHD 620.
As for the battery, Lenovo has included a 45 WHr unit. It can provide “up to 8 hours” of battery life, according to the PC maker.
The IdeaPad 530s 15 sports keyboard backlight and a built-in fingerprint reader as nice perks. These are, however, expected features in the notebook’s price range.
Lenovo will release soon a 14″ version of the 530s, too.
