I have $ 1600 to spend on a laptop for business and mobile entertainment
what is the best laptop within the price range
I would go for one of the Lenovo/IBM ThinkPads. I haven’t used the latest $1500+ ThinkPads, but those with Pentium processors were great. They have no fancy design, but are quality build. If you are planing to buy laptop with Vista, configure it with at least 1GB of RAM. Check lenovo.com site.
I have an A135-S4487 (1.66GhzX2 220GB in 2 Sata drives, and 2GB of ram upgradable to 4GB) My only complaint is lack of Windows XP, and linux support. Other than that, the drivers are good, and the PC runs fast.
I just purchased a Toshiba A135-2306 it came with Vista Basic which I do not like-I wiped the system clean and Reinstalled XP Pro now I can not find Drivers any help?
i also purchaced a toshiba A135-s4427 with vista basic and replaced it xp2 but i cant get drivers for it any help too?
Go to the Intel website, download the 945GM Express Chipset drivers drivers for Windows XP there. (I have a Toshiba A135 S4467)
Make SURE you install the ” Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility” FIRST, otherwise Windows won’t recognize the chipset and you won’t be able to install some of the other drivers correctly. For instance the Realtek HD sound chip driver didn’t install correctly even though I had found the proper driver.
Toshiba won’t be getting my hard earned $$ again because of their decision to not properly support their fine product. What a pain.
Spoke with Toshiba about XP2 drivers for the A135-s4427 today and was told mid-April ‘07 the drivers are coming out.
I bought a toshiba satellite a135 s4427 withwindowa vista. I installed xp and i couldn’t find all the drivers. I installed some from vista . It doesn’t work properly. The touchplad makes litle interruptions and the pc stays like dead for 10 or 15 sconds without itresponding and then came back. Any idea? thanks.
I have same problem with toshiba satellite a135 s4427 - I want Replace xp2 on vista but i can’t find some drivers (speacially Lan Driver ) . if you reply to me please.
Hi, i’m from Guatemala and I have the same problem most of you have, There are no drivers for windows XP!! ; WTF! i got really mad, what if we do something for example start a campaign in a blog (can be in my blog, but is in spanish) but they have to hear us, we their costumers need the drivers for winXP, because windows vista really sucks!!, let me know what do all of we think and, lets do something.

All you need is a few drivers from manufacturers sites like Realtek, Intel, TI, etc. It’s free and public available. If you can’t find them get all package here
http://rapidshare.com/files/31883631/Satellite-A135-S4427_xp_drivers.zip.html
btw, Ubuntu linux runs perfectly on this Toshiba too. Just leave a little disk space for it and install after XP.
Hi I own a Toshiba satellite A135-S4467 laptop with Windows vista OS. I am not able to use S-Video out to TV. Any one has tried doing this? Is it possible? How can we watch laptop out put on TV ?
I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4427 and I installed windows xp and I need some drivers, but most important the ethernet drivers, because cannot use the internet, someone has them?

Thanks for the rapidshare post of drivers. I have the same problem of wanting to run XP on the A135. I am hoping this will get me going on XP, especially the ethernet driver.

You guys can also try some drivers from the recovery disk :) it worked for me.. i got a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4427… thanks for the XP drivers “guest”…
So… on Ubuntu you don’t need drivers? that would be damn great… :)
i wonder if the person who has the link to download from rapidshare somehow post the link address of each of every software included in the package on this site. It is hard to download 60Mgb
from rapidshare with dial-up. Appreciate
I purchaced a toshiba A135-s4427 with vista basic and replaced it xp2 but i cant get drivers for it any help too?

Hey people please help me out a bit could you.i seem to have a problem quite opposite to the ones posted by you.i have a toshiba satellite A100.it came installed with xp but i installed vista in it.now im lacking in drivers as many of the xp drivers are not supported.could someone PLEASE tell me how i can obtain the drivers package for my laptop compatible with vista.
The problem is that Toshiba is so arrogant as to decide for all of us that we SHOULD use Vista. No XP or other drivers is just plain stupid.
BTW: did you know that over 80% of high tech CEO’s believe they have great customer service. That’s about the same number found in surveys about customers UNHAPPY with their support.
Can you talk disconnect???
I want to install xp instead of Vista premium on a A135-S4527.
Will the drivers from rapidshare above work on my unit also?
ARE THERE ANY SITE CONTAINS DRIVER FOR TOSHIBA A-135 S4467 ON XP2 PLATFORM?WHERE I CAN DOWNLOAD IT?ARE THERE SAME WITH THE DRIVER FOR A135-S4427?please help me…appreciate:
I managed to get my A135 S4427 working perfectly with XP; I’m thinking about hosting each driver separately. Email to let me know if there’s a demand for them, “Andrew’at’technetlaw.com.
P.S. don’t let it go into hibernate with XP running, I fried two motherboards doing this.
I own a A135 S4427 and is anyone here having a problem with the brightness function buttons on WindowsXP? Mine is not working on WindowsXP. It’s funny cos it works fine in the BIOS and when it’s booting up, before the WindowsXP logo comes up on the screen.

Its August already and no “official” XP drivers yet. I tried to find a support e-mail on the Toshiba Website, but haven’t found any.

Hi Mekork, i’m having the same problem as you but is not just a mouse frezing, i think is a dual core problem. Try to call your task mananger when it frezes and u’ll see.
If any one manages to find the problem let me know please. Thanks
I have the same problem, it seems it only happens when I run certain programs, I can surf the web all day, but once I start using winamp or any file sharing programs, the computer freeks. The whole system freezes, not just the mouse. Can’t even get to task manager. If anyone finds a fix, please let me know as well.

Hello people,
I had the same problem with my A135-4467. Exactelly the same behavior that you described above. I solved this problem reinstalling same drivers (It is a driver problem! It is not a dual core problem!). I think that is the sound driver, but I am not totaly sure about it. I downloaded the “Satellite-A135-S4427_xp_drivers.zip” zip file. I do not remenber the link the I got it. Please try to find this name in google search.
Good look!

Toshiba sucks with it’s policy of not releasing drivers for WindowsXP! When one manage to find the drivers on google either they don’t work very well or not all the functions are activated!
Did anyone managed to make all the FN Keys work on Windows XP SP2? Specially the brightness control keys?

hi,

can somebody help me get drivers for my A135-S4527? I AN DYING!!!!!!!!1
i bought a laptop with vista os but unfortunately i forgot my password,so i formatted my drive and loaded windows XP on it.now my network card is installed.but other devices are not installed, like sound, modem, display.i need help
I formatted and installed win xp sp3 on a toshiba A135-s4457. Like everyone else, I was left without drivers. This page is the only page where I was able to find a workable solution. Thanks to all those who posted previously! I first started by trying to find each driver individually for the A135-s4467, which was an exercise in frustration and involved a lot of cursing Toshiba for their total lack of customer support and refusal to support the personalization of their products. I will NEVER buy Toshiba. EVER.
I decided to try the download package zip file listed above for the A135-s4427 after having exhausted all other options for my specific model. Here is the link again:
http://rapidshare.com/files/31883631/Satellite-A135-S4427_xp_drivers.zip.html
This driver package is great and worked perfectly. Be sure to install each file in the order listed (1,2,3,etc.). This should solve all driver problems for A135-s4457 running xp and in my case, xp sp3. Thanks again, to those who posted previously.
For the above comment, I made a mistake. I write: I formatted and installed win xp sp3 on a toshiba A135-s4457. I should read: A135-s4467.
thanks all u guys for your posts. i am having problems downloading the rapid share drivers for a135-s4427. please any way i can download the file? i use download acceleraror plus….

Where do you make the folder to unzip all the files in the rapidshare XP driver download to?
Thanks to all the posts in the many Computer forums, and particularly the posts here in LAPTOPING. The knowledge dredged from all your posts and direction to the Rapidshare link posted in this forum. I now have a Satellite A135-S4467 XP OS that is fast, familiar, and all functions go.
Ignore my post of the 21st above. This post is conformation, I figured out the answer to my question. Thanks to all.
