  2. I bought a 2nd hand a135-s7404 (1.73 Celeron, 80G HDD, DVD-RW) with Vista. I quickly formatted it and installed Xp, and had problems with the drivers. But you know what, with a LOT OF PATIENCE, I managed to install all of the drivers with blood and tears. Cant blame Toshiba for that. Just be patient guys. If you have 2Gb+ RAM and processor u can probably stick with Vista, but if you have lots of programs, files, multi-tasker, etc., go back to XP or switch to 7. Get it? hahaha … Vista sucks.

I had the same problem with my A135-4467. Exactelly the same behavior that you described above. I solved this problem reinstalling same drivers (It is a driver problem! It is not a dual core problem!). I think that is the sound driver, but I am not totaly sure about it. I downloaded the “Satellite-A135-S4427_xp_drivers.zip” zip file. I do not remenber the link the I got it. Please try to find this name in google search.

BTW: did you know that over 80% of high tech CEO’s believe they have great customer service. That’s about the same number found in surveys about customers UNHAPPY with their support.

  65. Go to the Intel website, download the 945GM Express Chipset drivers drivers for Windows XP there. (I have a Toshiba A135 S4467)

Make SURE you install the ” Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility” FIRST, otherwise Windows won’t recognize the chipset and you won’t be able to install some of the other drivers correctly. For instance the Realtek HD sound chip driver didn’t install correctly even though I had found the proper driver.

Toshiba won’t be getting my hard earned $$ again because of their decision to not properly support their fine product. What a pain.
