The Dell G7 15 7590, also known as G7590, is the top-of-the-line model in Dell’s G-series gaming notebook lineup.
The G7 15 7590 / G7590 has a 15.6-inch display with IPS wide viewing angles. There’s optional high refresh rate of 144 Hz or even 240 Hz besides the standard 60 Hz.
The display and game rendering are powered by the Nvidia GeForce dedicated video card options. Namely, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 4GB, GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, RTX 2060 6GB, and the top-tier RTX 2080 (Max-Q) 8GB. The GTX variants are less expensive than RTX, but at a cost of lower performance and lack of ray-tracing technology for more realistic effects in games.
As the main computer processor, the notebook has the 9th Gen Intel Core i5-9300H with four cores or the Core i7-9750H with six. Both are among the most powerful laptop processors which can easily handle heavy games and other tasks. The i7 variant is recommended for the best performance, especially if you do heavy operations like video editing.
The Dell G7 15 7590 / G7590 delivers system memory sizes of 8GB and 16GB. 16GB is the pricier but recommended option, since some of the RAM-intensive games can utilize more than 8GB. Both 8GB and 16GB options are dual channel, so there are no single channel-related slowdowns.
As for data storage devices, customers can choose combined 1-Terabyte hard drive and solid state drive (128GB or 256GB) storage or faster SSD only storage of up to 1 Terabyte.
The laptop has a decently capacious 60 WHr battery. However, the internal components of the G7 15 7590 / G7590 are rather built for performance than power-efficiency. So, you can’t expect an insanely long battery life with the 7590 / G7590.
Dell points out the sleek profile of the notebook, which has a height of 0.8″. That’s fairly thin for a gaming-class laptop.
Besdies the G7 15 7590 / G7590, Dell also offers the G7 17 7790 / G7790. It’s a larger 17.3-inch version. Furthermore, there are cheaper G5 and G3 series 15.6-inch gaming laptops.
Usual starting price: around 1,000 USD* as of October 23, 2019.
