The HP Envy 17t (6VC02AV_1, 8DV34AV_1 Touch, 8DV35AV_1 “Best Value”) is a well-equipped 17.3″ laptop. This desktop PC replacement with its weight of 6.2 pounds and a relatively large footprint isn’t meant to be your travel companion. Instead, it offers a large display with optional touch input support, spacious backlit keyboard, and excellent internal components for comfortable home and office work. They are packed in a slim 0.9″ chassis.

Besides the big 17.3″ diagonal, the display provides decent Full HD resolution for crisp picture and lots of space on the Windows desktop and in programs’ user interfaces. Touch-screen functionality is optional. When the laptop is open, the display hinge raises the back end of the machine for more comfortable typing.

Inside, the HP Envy 17t packs the 10th Generation i5-10210U or i7-10510U quad-core processor and the Nvidia GeForce MX250 2GB or 4GB lower-mid-range dedicated video card (still far better for gaming than the usual Intel integrated graphics). There’s up to 16GB of system memory. Data storage options are a 1-Terabyte hard drive as the basic choice or you can choose a fast solid state drive with a capacity of up to 1TB. In addition, you can add an Intel Optane memory module to boost storage performance. The notebook has a built-in DVD writer drive, which is missing on the most of today’s laptops.

Now, let’s take a look at the differences between the 6VC02AV_1, Touch 8DV34AV_1, and “Best Value” 8DV35AV_1 versions of the HP Envy 17t for year 2019. They are basically the same configurable laptop, available on the official HP Store. But they have different basic configurations.

– The basic 6VC02AV_1 configuration includes the Intel Core i5-10210U processor, GeForce MX250 2GB video card, 8GB of RAM, and 1TB hard drive storage combined with 16GB Intel Optane memory.

– The entry 8DV34AV_1 Touch configuration comes with touchscreen, Core i7-10510U CPU, GeForce MX250 2GB, 8GB RAM, and a 512GB solid state drive with 32GB Intel Optane.

– The basic component choices of the 8DV35AV_1 “Best Value” are the same Core i7 chip, the 4GB version of the MX250 card, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of SSD storage.

The same laptop is available via other sellers, too, all pre-configured and with different Envy 17 model names.

The 3-cell 52 WHr battery inside the Envy 17t isn’t overly capacious, considering it has to power the laptop’s large display and dedicated video card.
