Lenovo Flex 3 15.6-Inch Convertible Laptop PC

The Lenovo Flex 3 15 is a 15.6-inch convertible notebook series with a 360-degree hinge for multi-mode use as a laptop, tablet, or multimedia stand. With its form factor, specifications, and price, the Flex 3 15 competes directly against systems such as the Asus Flip Q502LA, Toshiba Radius P55W, and HP Envy x360 15.

All of these notebooks are based on the 5th Generation Intel Core “Broadwell” processors. Lenovo’s contender comes either with the Core i3-5005U, i5-5200U, or i7-5500U dual-core processor. All of these chips are an excellent choice for the daily home and office chores, such as websurf, multimedia playback, or productivity software, but the i5 and especially i7 add extra oomph for heavier stuff such as video and photo editing. Default graphics processing option is the Intel HD 5500 built into these CPUs. For a bit more graphics power, available is the Nvidia GeForce 920M entry-level dedicated video card with 2GB of video memory. Main system memory can be either 4GB or 8GB. As for storage, choices are the traditional 500GB and 1TB hard drives and a 1TB/8GB HDD/SSD hybrid.

The Lenovo Flex 3 15 has either the standard 1366-by-768-pixel or sharper Full HD 1920-by-1080 screen resolution. We applaud Lenovo for making the screen anti-glare, which is a rarity among touch-enabled displays. Sadly, IPS wide viewing angle technology and keyboard backlight are missing. In these aspects, the Lenovo lags behind its competitors. Also, its chassis is purely made of plastics, whereas the competing products have at least palmrest made of metal.

The laptop has stereo speakers, a 720p web camera, Bluetooth, four USB 3.0 ports, HDMI-out port, and a media card reader. To get you online, the Lenovo Flex uses Wi-Fi 802.11AC wireless and Gigabit Ethernet LAN network connections.

Depending on configuration there are two battery options. A 45WHr unit providing up to 5.5 hours of battery life, and a 30 Whr battery for up to up to 3.5 hours of power autonomy on a single charge.
