Lenovo IdeaPad 320-15ABR 80XS0024US / 80XS00DJUS 15.6″ Laptop (AMD A12-Series CPU, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, Platinum Gray)
The Lenovo IdeaPad 320-15ABR 80XS0024US / 80XS00DJUS is a budget-class 15.6″ laptop. The 80XS0024US and 80XS00DJUS have identical specs, only the model names are different.
The main features of the plastic-clad Lenovo IdeaPad 320-15ABR 80XS0024US / 80XS00DJUS are:
- A basic 15.6″ display with 1366×768-pixel resolution, which is common in the price range. Unsurprisingly, IPS wide viewing angles and touch support are missing.
- A non-backlit keyboard with numeric pad. It’s accompanied by a big touch ad with integrated mouse buttons.
- The AMD A12-Series A12-9720P quad-core processor. It’s a mid-range CPU. Intel’s Core i3 and i5 series CPUs are much more widely adopted, but the AMD A12 is a good alternative. It offers similar performance to the dual-core i3 and i5 chips, which means effortless work on the common home and office computing tasks. The AMD A12 includes Radeon R7 integrated graphics, which is an entry-level solution when it comes to gaming.
- 8GB RAM is a standard system memory size on today’s market. 8GB is enough for medium-to-heavier multitasking.
- 1TB hard drive capacity is a standard size, too. It provides lots of storage space for users files including large ones. Such as high-def videos.
- A claimed battery life of up to 5 hours, which is roughly in line with other affordable laptops.
This 320-15ABR 80XS0024US / 80XS00DJUS weighs in at 4.8 pounds and also features a DVD burner optical drive, stereo speakers, a 720p web camera, 802.11AC wireless and Ethernet LAN network interfaces, Bluetooth, two traditional USB 3.0 ports and a new USB-C port, HDMI video out, a media card reader, and a combo mic/headphones jack.

Usually, there’s a setting in the notebook’s BIOS for configuring the maximal memory size for the graphics processor. But you’ll have to check it yourself, since I don’t own the laptop.
The video shows how to enter BIOS on the IdeaPad 320.
Question
Kwame –
Can I use it for Photoshop editing and also for video editing

Dan –
Yes, you can use it for photo and video editing, although it isn’t an ideal laptop for that. You can experience lags, especially when editing videos, primarily because of the slow hard drive storage. Upgrading to an SSD helps a lot. Also, editing very high resolution videos like 4K will be probably very laggy. My advice is to get a laptop with at least AMD Ryzen 5 or 7 or 8th or 10th Gen Intel Core i5 and i7 (preferably Core H series), with SSD, with 16GB RAM. As for the display, IPS tech makes a huge difference in terms of viewing angles and color, and this laptop doesn’t have it. And, the screen resolution of 1366×768 is quite low. You should get at least 1920×1080 for photo / video editing in my opinion.

I’ve had this for a few years now. I bought this refurbished and it’s still running strong. It’s a solid laptop for the price. The only issue I really have with it is battery life.

What version of the AMD Radeon r7 series does it have (240, 250 etc)? I’m a noob to computers so sorry if this is a stupid question.

Danijel Z –
The laptop has Radeon R7 integrated graphics which uses main system memory, whereas the Radeon R7 240, 250 etc are dedicated video cards with their own video memory. Both are called Radeon R7 series, so it is a bit confusing and your question isn’t stupid at all of course. But they are quite different, despite both being Radeon R7. The dedicated Radeon R7 video cards are noticeably faster than integrated R7.

which intel core can this AMD A12 (7th gen) R7 LENOVO be compared to ?
Danijel Z –
Hi, the closest one CPU performance-wise is the Intel Core i3-7100U, which is currently a lower-mid-range processor. On the graphics processing front, the Radeon R7 of the AMD A12 has a slight advantage over the Intel HD 620 graphics of the i3-7100U. But, they both provide very basic graphics performance.

The Lenovo series laptops that have A12 processor (max 3.6Ghz) and Radeon R7 2gb can be compared to acer aspire 5/aspire e15 (which has backlit keyboard) that have Core i5 8250u (max 3.5 Ghz) and Nvidia Mx150 2gb

This is a great laptop for the price, I got it as a gift for school but soon realized how much more it can do. It can play games with high quality graphics at 1080p and does not lag. You can adjust the AMD gaming performance yourself. It’s has good simplicity.
