Lenovo ThinkPad T580 15.6″ Business-Class Notebook

The Lenovo ThinkPad T580 is a 15.6-inch laptop for business users. It offers mainstream notebook features packed in a recognizable ThinkPad chassis with military-spec-certified durability and sleek and simplistic design. In addition, the T580 – as same as other ThinkPads – provides advanced business-class system manageability thanks to Intel vPro technology.

The screen of the notebook – surrounded by very thin bezels, is available in multiple variants. You can choose between a 15.6″ Full HD 1920×1080-pixel IPS wide viewing angle panel with optional touch input support or extremely crisp Ultra HD 3840-by-2160 IPS screen. The spill-resistant keyboard features a dedicated numeric pad and optional backlight. It’s accompanied by a trackpad with integrated click buttons and traditional TrackPoint pointing stick combined with physical click buttons.

Inside, the Lenovo ThinkPad T580 boasts the 8th Generation Intel Core i-series i5 and i7 processors, hard drive or solid state drive storage with 500GB and up to 1-Terabyte capacities respectively, and huge RAM size of up to 32GB. Available CPU choices are the Intel Core i5-8250U and i7-8550U, and their slightly faster Intel vPro-equipped siblings – the Intel i5-8350U and i7-8650U. As for graphics processing, the notebook comes with the basic Intel UHD 620 integrated graphics as the default. The machine is also available with the dedicated NVIDIA GeForce MX150 2GB lower-mid-range video card, with noticeably better performance than the UHD 620.

PowerBridge battery technology is a unique feature of select ThinkPad laptops. The T580 is one of them. There’s a basic 32 WHr battery sealed inside the chassis and an user-removable 24 WHr unit on the back of the device. The dual-battery solution enables users to replace the secondary one on-the-go, without shutting down the system. Instead of the 24 WHr removable unit, you can attach an optional 47 WHr or 72 WHr battery. Lenovo promises a battery life of “up to 26 hours”. That’s with the largest capacity optional battery.

Furthermore, the laptop sports stereo speakers and a 720p web camera. For networking and getting you online, the T580 uses 802.11AC Wi-Fi and Gigabit LAN network connections, as well as optional 4G LTE mobile broadband connection. Also, there’s a built-in Bluetooth interface, two full-size USB 3.1 ports and a pair of compact USB-C ports with DisplayPort video output functionality, and Thunderbolt 3.0 data I/O technology on one one them. Besides these, there’s an HDMI video output, a combo audio port, and a multi-format microSD media card reader.

As for system security, the laptop features options like infra-red camera for face-recognition, fingerprint reader, encryption of locally stored data, and SmartCard reader.

The notebook weighs 4.3 pounds pounds and is 0.8″ thick.
