Lenovo Yoga 900 13.3″ Premium 2-in-1 Laptop
The Lenovo Yoga 900 is a premium 2-in-1 laptop PC with a 13.3-inch display and fully rotating hinge that enables laptop, tablet, and presentation usage modes.
The Yoga 900 has better performance as the main improvement over the previous version – the Yoga 3 Pro. Lenovo’s flagship convertible now comes with the Intel Core i series processor, instead of more power efficient but much slower Core M. The laptop is available with the 6th Generation Intel Core i7-6500U, which is a significant upgrade over the Core M 5Y70. For comparison the i7 has a PassMark benchmark score of ~4,450, while the 5Y70 scores ~3,050 points. Since Lenovo included faster but also more power hungry and hotter Core I series 15-Watt CPU than the 4.5-Watt Core M, the company also replaced the cooling system with a more efficient one and put in a larger capacity battery of 66 WHr instead of the old 44 Whr. The PC maker claims the battery of Yoga 900 supports up to up to nine hours of local video playback on a single charge.
The newer Yoga 13.3-incher still uses a high-resolution QHD+ display with 3200×1800 pixels and IPS technology for wide viewing angles. The screen is mounted on Lenovo’s sturdy and recognizable watchband-style hinge, which consists of 813 metal elements and six attachment points. The multitouch display is accompanied by backlit keyboard with ergonomically shaped keys and spacious touchpad.
Another upgrade is maximal amount of system memory. The Yoga 900 now comes with up to 16 Gigabutes of RAM, up from previous maximal 8GB. Solid state drive storage capacities remained the same – 256GB and 512GB.
There are some changes in the connectivity department, too. Lenovo has added a new USB-C type port with support for video output and ditched micro HDMI out. A USB-C to DisplayPort / HDMI video adapter cable isn’t included in the package. The notebook also houses stereo speakers, a 720p web camera, 802.11AC wireless and Bluetooth connections, two standard USB 3.0 ports, a multi-in-1 media card reader, and a combo audio jack.
With a weight of 2.8 pounds and thickness of just 0.6″ inch, the Lenovo Yoga 900 is a tad heavier and thicker than the previous Pro 3 version measuring 2.6 lbs and 0.5″. It still however an extremely portable 13.3″ laptop and currently the most portable one with a Core i-series processor.
The laptop ships in three different colors – Platinum Silver, Champagne Gold, and Clementine Orange.
