The HP Stream 13-c002dx is an inexpensive 13.3-inch laptop with touchscreen support. More precisely, with a 280-dollar price tag it’s the cheapest 13.3″ touch notebook PC on the market currently.

As same as the non-touch Stream 13, the 13-c002dx is based on the entry-level Intel Celeron N2840 dual-core processor. The CPU is accompanied by 2GB of RAM memory. The CPU / RAM combination is good only for the basic computing tasks like web surfing, movie watching, or Word and Excel document editing. The 1366-by-768-pixel multi-touch display is managed by the Intel HD graphics, integrated in the Celeron chip. More about performance of the N2840 and Intel HD IGP can be found in this review.

The weakest point of the notebook is storage space. The built-in Flash storage has a capacity of only 32GB, which is insufficient for those who like to download movies, music, and software to local storage. Thankfully, with a purchase of the HP Stream 13-c002dx, you get 1TB of Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage for free. In addition, a 1-year subscription for Microsoft Office 365 Personal software suite is included in the package, as well as 60 minutes of Skype calls per month for 1 year. Another way to expand storage is via the built-in microSD media card reader.

Alongside stereo speakers, a 720p webcam, and the microSD slot, the Stream 13 is outfitted with 3 USB ports, HDMI video connector, a combo audio jack, Wi-Fi wireless, and Bluetooth.
The HP Stream 13 series and 13-c002dx itself draw attention with their colorful design. The keyboard deck sports a gradient blue to light turquoise finish, while the lid has “horizon blue” paint on it. The chassis is in contrast with while chiclet style keys of the full-size keyboard. The keyboard has no backlight and is accompanied by a one-piece touchpad.

With a weight or 3.8 pounds and 0.8″ thin profile, this model is a quite portable companion.

It is powered by a 36 WHr battery. According to HP, a single charge gives an autonomy of up to 7 and a half hours.

To achieve the low price of $280, Hewlett-Packard has made several compromises: entry-level processor speed, 2GB of RAM instead of 4GB, and small storage space. But, the 13-c002dx is nevertheless a good buying choice. Primarily thanks to the affordable price tag, touch support, attractive design, and a great portability.

Current rating: 4 out of 5 stars
  1. What charger size dose this laptop use

    Andres

Hi I have this laptop and lost the charger idk what it takes any info? Thanks

    • Mark

As far as I know it is compatible with a 65W charger with a 4mm adapter. It should output 19.5V at 3.33A. Mine is missing too and I know that those specs work with this laptop. Hope that helps.

*the blue paint around the keys

  3. Kirk H.

Hello, I purchased this laptop about a year ago, and I’ve recently noticed that some of the blue paint on the keyboard has begun to wrinkle and chip off, possibly due to overheating of the laptop, even though it’s only been through occasional, light use and I don’t live anywhere hot. Is there an easy way to fix this without professional help?

  4. Me

Can I download Photoshop on this laptop?

    • Danijel Z

Yes, you can download and install the latest Photoshop on this laptop, since it meets minimum system requirements – at least 2GHz dual-core CPU, 2GB RAM, OpenGL 2.0, and 2GB of available storage space.

  5. 4 out of 5

    Kevin P

I’m giving this laptop 4 stars for the following reason: If you have done your research and know what you are buying this for, it does those things in which it is designed for, VERY well.

The only reason I will not give it 5 stars, is because the touch screen feature is lacking in a few aspects. There are times where I try to register a click on a small tab, and it will not register properly. More often than not the touchscreen works perfectly, but for those small buttons it struggles with precision.

If people rate this low because it has little storage and a weaker processor, they are not being fair. This device is not designed to compete with gaming laptops and therefore, it should not be held to the same standard. It is however, excellent for college students, elderly, and young people who are not ready for more complex computing. I certainly recommend this device for anyone who needs a solid laptop for online research and typing up papers.
