HP m6-k010dx Envy Sleekbook Thin & Light 15.6″ Laptop

The HP m6-k010dx Envy Sleekbook doesn’t have a touchscreen display and DVD burner like its sibling m6-k015dx, but it is much more lighter and costs significantly less. Instead of weighing 5.6 pounds and having a $780 price tag, it’s exceptionally light for the 15.6-inch category with a weight of 4.7 pounds and is priced at $630 $580. An excellent fact is that the cheaper variant retains the backlight keyboard and subwoofer besides stereo speakers, which are both considered as premium features.

The main part of hardware hidden inside the 0.8″ thin aluminum silver casing of the multimedia-oriented m6-k010dx is the latest AMD Elite Quad-Core A10-5745M processor with a clock speed of up to 2.9GHz and the Radeon HD 8610G integrated graphics. The processor is designed for use in thin and light laptops and therefore has a lower thermal design power than the standard CPUs. It consumes 25 Watts, down from usual 35W, but it’ still more power-hungry than the present Intel Core ULV parts with a TDP of 17W or lower. The A10-5745M is slower than the newest Core i5 ULV version, but it’s faster than last year’s i3 ULV chip. Overall, processor performance is good for everyday use, but it still can’t match power efficiency of the 2013 Intel ULV parts.

On the positive side, the A10 has somewhat faster integrated graphics. For instance, the HD 8610G yields solid 669 PassMark GPU points, while the comparable Intel HD 4600 IGP scores 530 points. However, we’re not talking about gaming-level performance in both cases.

HP’s m6-k010dx is also armed with 6GB of DDR3 RAM memory and a 750GB hard drive, so in this aspect the laptop is more generous than the ordinary 4GB/500GB configurations. Regarding the screen real estate, the resolution of 1366×768 pixels is usual. As we already said, the DVD burner is missing, but you can put your files on USB storage devices thanks to three USB ports. The notebook also incorporates a media card reader, HDMI output, Wi-Fi, Ethernet LAN, and Bluetooth.

For power autonomy, HP has provided a three-cell battery, which unfortunately isn’t user-removable and there’s no available info on battery life on this laptop model.

The HP m6-k010dx Envy Sleekbook can be currently ordered via Best Buy. It’s price of $630 $580 isn’t too expensive, but the competition in the consumer 15.6-inch notebook category is really tough these days. For example, a similar Toshiba Satellite P55-A5200 with a 1920×1080 display instead of 1366×768 and similar other components and feature set is only $20 more expensive.

  1. my sounds is horrible on my laptop. Considering it has beats audio which is supposed to be great, mine sounds like it’s coming through a tin box. There’s barely and base at all and I can’t find a way to fix it.
