Inside its plastic chassis in black or “platinum silver” color, the Dell 3480 laptop packs a computing system based on Intel’s processing technology. As the most basic option, the 3480 comes with the Intel Celeron N4000 processor with Intel UHD 600 graphics. A step up is the lower-end Pentium N5000 with Intel UHD 605 graphics. These are good only for the basic day-to-day computing tasks. For more computing power, there’s a lower-mid-range 7th Gen Intel Core i3-7020U option with Intel HD 620 graphics. The most powerful choice is the excellent mid-range 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8265U with the UHD 620. The notebook ships with either 4GB for RAM for basic multi-tasking or 8GB of RAM for those who want to use more programs and browser tabs simultaneously. Internal data storage device options are a small 64GB eMMC drive, or a larger but slower hard drive with either 500GB or 1-Terabyte (1,000GB) capacity. The laptop lacks a built-in optical drive.
Dell has included a medium-capacity 42 WHr battery to power the Inspiron 3480.
What separates the 3480 from other inexpensive laptops is that it provides optional keyboard backlight.
