Dell Inspiron 15 i5559-4682SLV Signature Edition Laptop (15.6″ Touch FHD, Intel i5 / 8GB / 1TB)
The Dell Inspiron 15 i5559-4682SLV Signature Edition Laptop is one of the best deals this holiday season. This well equipped Microsoft Store’s exclusive costs $399 after $350 instant savings. For the price it really offers a lot. The i5559-4682SLV Signature Edition features a 15.6-inch touch-screen display with Full HD resolution, an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of system memory, a 1-Terabyte hard disk drive, backlit keyboard, and a RealSense 3D camera as an extra perk.
Full HD 1920×1080 resolution on the multi-touch display means sharper picture quality than on usual 1366×768 HD screens. Unfortunately, IPS technology which enables wide viewing angles is missing on this model. That’s the main drawback of this laptop, but missing IPS is a very common occurrence on sub-$500 laptops.
The heart of the Dell Inspiron 15 i5559-4682SLV Signature Edition is the 6th Generation Intel Core i5-6200U dual-core processor with the Intel HD 520 integrated graphics. This chip is absolutely perfect for the daily computing chores of the average user and casual gaming. Furthermore, it can be used as a basic solution for very intensive operations like photography editing or video montage. The Intel HD 520 integrated graphics offers basic gaming potential and is capable of running games like League of Legends, Minecraft, or Counter Strike. You can read our reviews of the i5-6200U here and Intel HD 520 here. Intel’s new 7th Generation processors are now available, but differences between them and the 6th Gen lineup the i5-6200U belongs to are minor. As the main advantage, the 7th Gen chips have slightly better raw CPU performance and better optimized playback of high-resolution 4K videos. 8GB of the notebook’s RAM ensures you’ll be able to multitask comfortably in all normal scenarios, while the 1TB hard disk enables you to store large file libraries on it. The traditional PC users will appreciate inclusion of a built-in DVD writer drive on this model.

The built-in RealSense 3D camera is a stand-out feature of the i5559-4682SLV. It enables Windows Hello functionality for easy operating system log-ins, enhanced security, and other purposes, all based on face recognition.
There are no gimmicks in the rest of the specifications sheet, but all necessary laptop features are present. The notebook has stereo speakers, 802.11AC Wi-Fi wireless, Ethernet LAN port, Bluetooth, HDMI output for hooking up HDTVs and monitors, one USB 3.0 port and two USB 2.0 ports, an SD media card reader slot, and a microphone / headphones audio port.
There’s no info on battery capacity and battery life for this particular model. Since the i5559 series is generally available with either a 40 WHr or 47 WHr battery, we can assume the i5559-4682SLV has one of these. Combined with the i5 CPU and FHD touchscreen, these batteries should provide at least 4-5 hours of juice on a charge.
The laptop weighs in at 5.4 pounds and is 0.9″ thick.
If you’re wondering what Signature Edition label means, here’s an explanation. Signature Edition is a sign that the notebook has a clean Windows 10 installation, as opposed to those with lots of unusable “bloatware” programs pre-installed.

Hi, according to the manual of the Dell 5559 series, the USB port located on the left side, between the HDMI and card reader, is USB 3.0 port.

I would keep this laptop if only there was a workaround to make the keyboard light stay on. Shame.
