The 13.3-inch HP Stream 13-c077nr Signature Edition Laptop listed at the Microsoft Store official website for $230 has only one difference in comparison the widely available 13-c010nr model. Since it’s a Signature Edition-branded exclusive, it offers a less cluttered Windows experience out of the box, since third party trialware and other bloatware software is removed. Also, Microsoft took care of security of the 13-c077nr. The laptop comes pre-loaded with one of the popular anti-virus programs. Software-wise, it’s also important to mention that with the HP Stream 13 series you get bundled a 1-year Microsoft Office 356 Personal subscription for free.

As for the Stream 13 lineup itself, it includes the world’s cheapest 13.3″ notebooks. This laptop size is traditionally higher priced than the corresponding larger 15.6″ and smaller 11.6″ systems, but the Stream 13 is an exception. These HP low-cost notebooks have very basic specifications, but are adequate for the light day-to-day use. Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office apps will work smoothly and you can also do web surfing with reasonable number of browser tab opened at the same time, as well as 1080p video playback. However, you should stay away from computationally intensive tasks, which will be a sluggish affair on the HP Stream 13-c077nr Signature Edition Laptop and its siblings.

The main computing is done on the Intel Celeron N2840 dual-core processor. If you want to dig deeper into it, you can read this review. As for system memory and data storage capacities, the machine is pretty much limited. Only 2GB of RAM is below unwritten modern laptops’ standard of 4GB, so potential for running multiple apps at the same time is a bit crippled. Windows OS itself has a large footprint, so storage space of 32GB could have been larger, too.

Management of the standard-resolution 1366×768 display relies on the Intel HD graphics, integrated in the CPU itself. It is capable of some gaming on low graphics levels. More about it you can read in the aforementioned review of the Celeron.

The display doesn’t support touchscreen input. Instead, you can use the decently large keyboard with isle-style keys and touchpad pointer and cursor navigator with integrated click buttons.

With its Horizon Blue chassis color, gradient finish on the palmrest, and white keyboards keys, the HP Stream 13 easily draws attention. It is light and thin with a weight of 3.4 pounds and 0.8″ profile.

Other bits on the HP Stream 13-c077nr Signature Edition worth mentioning are stereo speakers, a web camera with 720p capture resolution, three USB connectors, HDMI video port for hooking up compatible TVs and monitors, a memory card reader supporting multiple card formats, Wi-Fi wireless, and Bluetooth.

The battery is claimed to last “over 7.5 hours” on a single charge.

Here’s a tip if you’ve decided to purchase the notebook. Microsoft Store will offer it at a reduced price on November 24th 2014. They however haven’t disclosed how much the price cut will be.
