Dell Inspiron 15 7000 7568 / 7558 Touch-Screen Laptop - Modes

Internal specs-wise, Dell’s Inspiron 7568 / 7558 offers the traditional laptop components. Otherwise identical, the 7568 features the 6th Generation Intel Core Skylake processor options, while the 7558 is based on the previous 5th Gen Intel Broadwell. The CPU choices include the budget-class Intel Pentium 3285U Broadwell, lower-mid-range 6th Gen Core i3-6010U and 5th Gen i3-5010U, mid-range 6th Gen i5-6200U and 5th Gen i5-5200U, and higher-end 6th Gen i7-6500U and 5th Gen i7-5500U. Skylake versions are only a tad faster and more power efficient than Broadwell. Also, they feature slightly improved but still just basic Intel HD 520 integrated graphics instead of the HD 5500. The laptop comes with either 4GB or 8GB of system memory, and 500GB or 1-Terabyte of hard drive storage. Regarding upgrades, you can access RAM and HDD via the bottom panel of the chassis. Unfortunately, the laptop has only one RAM slot so you can have more than 8GB in total.

What’s missing on the 7568 / 7558 is IPS technology for wider display viewing angles. This feature is present on most of other similar systems, so it appears to be the main disadvantage of the laptop. Another difference in comparison to its competitors is absence of a dedicated numeric pad on the keyboard. Thankfully, keyboard backlight is provided. The notebook also has a spacious trackpad.

The rest of the feature set includes stereo speakers, a 720p web camera, 802.11AC wireless connection, Bluetooth, two USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0, wired HDMI and wireless Wi-Di external display interfaces, and a multiformat media card reader.

There is no info on battery life provided by the built-in 43 WHr battery. One can expect around 4 hours of run time on a charge, considering the specs of the notebook.

The Dell Inspiron 15 7000 7558 weighs in at 5 pounds and is 0.8″ thick.

    hi everyone
mine laptop screen is broken out any one want it ???

  2. Tom stewart

My main problem is that the Laptop freezes up quite often. Other wise its a good laptop.

My issues are mostly Windows 10 Pro issues. I work in managed services. The 8G memory limit is killing me. I also only bought the 500G hard drive and using an Oracle Virtual box is killing me. I wish my company had given me better specifications before choosing one.

Can the 500G hard drive be swapped to 1T drive?

    • Danijel Z

Yes, it can. But swapping isn’t as easy as on laptops with a removable HDD / RAM cover panel. On this notebook you have to remove the whole bottom panel. There are 10 screws holding it. I’ve checked out Dell’s maintenance manual for the Inspiron 7568 and it also says before replacing HDD you have to remove the battery. It’s held by screws too.

Works fine for home use: internet, office suite, movies, some work-related applications. I have not tried gaming.
Issues: Heavy & bulky to travel with (which I knew at the time of my purchase)
Biggest problem: After 15 months, I had to get the battery replaced. Then 3 months later (total of 18 months of low use ownership), the hard drive failed. Instead of getting it repaired, I am buying a new laptop.

does this unit have a docking station option please?

    • Danijel Z

For this model, there’s no traditional docking station, like those of some business notebooks, sitting beneath a laptop. But you can use USB docking stations, such as the Dell USB 3.0 D3100.

    • Loren Olson

None that is specific to it.

This laptop was a lot of trouble til I swap out the 1T HDD for a Samsung Evo 850 SDD, the 4K screen is a bit less than OK, I really wished that I I had noticed that it only has single channel memory with 8GB maximum. Also Intel on CPU GPS is not 4K ready. Now after a year it seems like the Ram is acting up.

On a side note Dell has super AWFUL service.

    • Jonas

I thought this would support Max 16GB RAM (Inspiron 15 7568)? I plan to buy this and swap the HDD for a SDD.

Very good for a college students use – I’ve had no problems out of it so far.

Purchased 8 of these for new laptops for our office, out of the 8 we got only one of them (the one with the i7) does not have problems, These laptops constantly(2-10 times a day) freeze up completely to the point that you have to hard shutdown the machine, Refresh, reimage, even installing from external media all failed to correct the problem, and the only thing being run were office product suite and the internet.

My mom just bought one for me earlier this month… and kinda sad because its performance is not good for gaming…I installed NBA 2k16 and its is poorly functioning. I just want to ask if I can do something…
