The HP 15-da0032wm is a 15.6-inch Windows laptop. It is a lower mid-range laptop model, usually priced at around $400.

On the positive side, the HP 15-da0032wm features the Intel Core i3-8130U processor, which is an excellent CPU for the daily computing tasks of the average PC user. Also, there’s 16GB of Intel Optane memory to boost performance of the notebook’s spacious 1-Terabyte hard drive data storage. On the other hand, the notebook has a modest system memory size of 4GB, so the laptop isn’t suitable for intensive multitasking. Unless you upgrade RAM. Furthermore, the display of the laptop is an ordinary budget-class panel with not so sharp 1366×768 HD resolution and narrow TN-type viewing angles as opposed to IPS wide viewing angle screens. As for gaming, the system relies on the Intel UHD 620 integrated graphics, which is good only for non-demanding PC games. In addition to that, the small 4GB RAM size further reduces gaming performance.

Inside its plastic casing with “natural silver” lid and sides and a non-backlit keyboard, the HP 15-da0032wm also packs a medium-capacity 41 WHr battery. HP boldly claims a battery life of “up to 10 hours and 15 minutes (mixed usage)” on this model.

I bought this one year ago so I have had plenty of time to evaluate it. They said that with the 16 GB of Optane memory it would have plenty of memory to handle day to day needs, WRONG! If you have more than two windows open it becomes a snail. I have never had a slower, non-responsive laptop. The only reason that I got a new computer was because the battery died on my old one. I still use my old one but it has to be plugged in. The performance on it smokes this one. The display on this is okay but not great. I really miss my backlit keyboard that I had on my old computer.
The only things that I do like are the hard drive space (1TB)and the fact that it has a DVD writer.

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, many laptop sellers in laptops’ specs sheet put Optane memory together with RAM memory, while in reality these are totally different things. Optane does help a bit with data storage device speed (hard drives and solid state drives), but not with multi-tasking ability. For multi-tasking RAM size is the most important thing. You have only 4GB of RAM in your laptop, which I think is insufficient for running multiple programs without slowdowns most of the time. You need at least 8GB for normal multi-tasking nowadays, in my opinion.

Also, having a hard drive instead of solid state drive makes a huge difference when opening programs and booting up Windows. HDD makes these operations much slower than with SSDs.

Had it 4 months and today was the second time it says system can’t repair and the entire computer has to be reset to factory settings losing everything I’ve saved on here and the reset so far is taking 4 hours. Luckily I got the warranty and will be returning it.
