The HP 15t 2DX36AV_1 ‘Best Value’ Touch is a very reasonably priced touchscreen laptop with a fast Intel Core i7-7500U processor. The 550-dollar 2DX36AV_1 configuration is sold directly by HP. It’s a part of the budget-oriented HP 15t customizable notebook series. This model doesn’t sport fancy looks, a very high display quality, nor other premium features like solid state drive storage or keyboard backlight. Instead it has a plastic chassis with six color options via HP.com, usual lower-end 1366-by-768 TN display, and slower hard drive storage with 1TB capacity. But on the other side, the snappy i7-7500U dual-core CPU paired with large 8GB RAM and the laptop’s touch-enabled screen provide excellent value for the given price in terms of performance and functionality. That’s probably why HP gave it ‘Best Value’ moniker. Please keep in mind that HDD and RAM can be upgraded before purchase. That would of course increase the price.

The HP 15t 2DX36AV_1 doesn’t include a built-in DVD read / write drive.

The laptop has a full-size non-backlit keyboard with numeric pad, a trackpad with dedicated left and right click buttons instead of integrated in the surface, stereo speakers, and a web camera. Furthermore, there are 802.11N Wi-Fi wireless and an Ethernet LAN network port, webcam, two USB 3.1 ports plus a single slower USB 2.0, HDMI video jack, a media card reader, and a mic/headphones audio jack. The 2DX36AV_1 doesn’t feature Bluetooth, but it is available as an upgrade.

The 2DX36AV_1 has a relatively low capacity battery of 31 WHr. That should be enough for up to around 4 hours of battery life with moderate use and lowered screen brightness. As an option, a larger 41 WHr battery is available.

Below you can read and submit user reviews, questions, and answers about the laptop. Thank you for your contribution.

    Is this a 2 in 1 computer

  2. Joe

Can I add an optical drive such as DVD burner? If so, where can I get one for this model? Thanks so much.

    • Danijel Z

No, unfortunately. The 2DX36AV_1 doesn’t have an optical drive bay built-in, so you can’t add a DVD drive.

    • Joe

      Thanks for the reply.

  3. istvan

Can it run Counter Strike Global?

    • Danijel Z

Yes it can. It has single-channel memory, so it wont run as smooth as shown in this review: http://laptoping.com/gpus/product/intel-hd-620-review-graphics-of-7th-gen-core-u-series-kaby-lake-cpus/ (That’s the same graphics processor as in this laptop)
If you plan to upgrade RAM by adding a second module to get dual-channel memory, you can easily get around 50 fps on 720p resolution and medium-to-high settings. With single-channel RAM under the same settings you should get around 35 fps.
