MSI Wind U160 Netbook Released

MSI Wind U160Micro Star Int’l has released the MSI Wind U160, which belongs to the company’s new line of Intel Atom “Pine Trail M”-based netbooks.

The U160 features a 10-inch 1024 x 600-pixel LED-backlight display, the Intel Atom N450 processor with the GMA 3150 graphics, a 160GB hard drive, up to 2GB of DDR2 memory, a 3- or 6-cell battery, and Windows 7 OS.

The U160 comes in two colors: Fancy Gold and Jet Black.

Dell Latitude 13Dell announced today the Latitude 13 business ultraportable, “the world’s thinnest 13-inch commercial client laptop”.

The Dell Latitude 13 features various corporate-class technologies, such as remote manageability, desktop virtualization through certification from Citrix and VMware, full disk encryption, and Trusted Platform Module (TPM), as well as Dell ImageDirect service which “lets IT create, update and deploy system images 24/7 from a secure online location.”

The Mini 5102 comes with the Intel Atom Processor N450 at 1.66GHz, the Intel GMA HD graphics, optional Broadcom Crystal HD Enhanced Video Accelerator for high-def video decoding, up to 2GB of DDR2 memory, up to 320GB of hard drive space or up to 80GB of solid state drive storage, a 4- or 6-cell battery, and Windows 7 Starter OS.

The Edge 13″ notebooks come with AMD or Intel processor technology. The offered AMD-based configurations include the Athlon Neo X2 dual-core CPU and ATI Radeon HD 3200 integrated graphics, whereas the Intel-powered systems feature the Core 2 Duo SU7300 CPU and GMA 4500MHD integrated GPU. Both versions ship with up to 4GB of RAM, up to 320GB of hard drive space, and a 4- or 6-cell battery. The laptops have no built-in optical drives.

Sony VAIO Y Series Overview

Sony VAIO YSony has recently unveiled the VAIO Y 13.3-inch ultraportable notebook series, featuring an Intel ultra-low voltage processor, a 1.2″ thin profile, and a starting weight of 3.9 pounds.

Along with the 1.3GHz SU7300 Intel Core 2 Duo ULV CPU, the Sony VAIO Y features the Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics, up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, and up to 500GB of hard drive space. The battery life is up to 8 hours and up to 12 hours with the standard and extended battery, respectively. There’s no built-in optical drive.

Acer Recalls Aspire 3410, 3810 Laptops Due to Burn Hazard

USCPSC Aspire Timeline RecallThe U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Acer announced a voluntary recall of about 22,000 Acer Aspire Timeline AS3410, AS3410T, AS3810T, AS3810TG, AS3810TZ and AS3810TZG laptops.

The USPSC says an internal microphone wire under the palm rest of the notebooks can short circuit and overheat, potentially causing burn hazard to users.

The new mobile computers are based on the new Intel Core i3, i5, and i7 processors, except the Intel Atom-powered UH900.

Sony VAIO FSony has unveiled at the ongoing 2010 CES Show three new laptops: the VAIO F multimedia notebook, and VAIO Y and Z series ultraportables.

The VAIO F features a 16.4-inch display, an Intel Core i7 quad-core processor, an NVIDIA GeForce dedicated graphics card, optional Blu-ray optical drive, and Windows Home Premium OS. The VAIO F Series will starts at around $1,000 and is available for pre-orders at Sony’s official website.

Unlike the Intel-based T135 and T115, the Toshiba Satellite T135D and T115D include the AMD Turion Neo X2, Athlon Neo X2 or Athlon Neo MV-40 processor, depending on model, as well as the ATI Mobility Radeon graphics.
