Asus Eee PC 901 Images Published
Blogeee published today images of the Asus Eee PC 901, the upcoming version of Asustek’s budget ultraportable laptop.
The Eee PC 901 has the same ports, slots, and dimensions as the current 900 series. However, the manufacturer has added a row of buttons between the keyboard and the battery.
HP 2133 Mini-Note Now with XP, Only for Businesses
For business customers, Hewlett-Packard now optionally offers Windows XP operating system on its HP 2133 Mini-Note PC low-cost ultraportable laptop.
The new OS option is available as a downgrade from Windows Vista to Windows XP Professional. A specification sheet of the HP 2133 says that “to qualify for this downgrade an end user must be a business (including governmental or educational institutions) and is expected to order annually at least 25 customer systems with the same custom image”.
Asus Eee PC 900 (EEEPC900-W017) Now Available
Asustek’s Asus Eee PC 900, the company’s second generation low-cost ultraportable laptop, is now in stock at select retailers such as Buy.com ($549.99) and ZipZoomfly ($599.99).
Along with a 8.9-inch 1024×600 display, the offered EEEPC900-W017 model features Intel’s Celeron M 430 processor at 1.7GHz, a 12GB solid state drive, 1GB of RAM, and a built-in 1.3MP web camera.
Dell Vostro 1310 Overview
Dell launched yesterday the Vostro 1310, the company’s first 13.3-inch notebook in their business-class lineup. The laptop starts at $749.
Along with a 13.3″ 1280×800 anti-glare or glossy display, the Dell Vostro 1310 includes Intel’s Celeron, or a 65nm/45nm Core 2 Duo processor, up to 4GB of system memory, up to 320GB of hard drive storage, and a slot-load optical drive. Regarding graphics, the 1310 provides Intel GMA X3100 and Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS 128MB choices.
Lenovo IdeaPad U110 Launched
Lenovo has officially announced the availability of the IdeaPad U110 fashion-oriented ultraportable notebook PC, featuring an 11.1-inch display, Intel’s Centrino technology, black or red lid color, and a starting weight of 2.5 pounds.
The first two offered Lenovo IdeaPad U110 models feature a $1,899 price tag, and include the Intel Core 2 Duo L7500 low-voltage processor at 1.6GHz, the Intel GMA X3100 integrated graphics, 2GB of system memory, a 120GB hard drive spinning at 4,200rpm, and an external DVD burner, since the notebook does not incorporate a built-in optical drive. The laptop’s 11.1″ widescreen display with LED backlighting has a resolution of 1366-by-768 pixels.

MSI Wind PC Low-Cost Ultraportable Announced
MSI has officially announced an ultrapotable laptop called the Wind PC, which will compete with the Asus Eee PC in the low-cost notebook market.
“The Wind will come with either an 8.9- or 10-inch display option featuring LED backlight technology and a resolution of 1024×600. The system weights around 1kg, according to MSI, and includes a 2.5-inch hard drive with storage capacity of 80GB. The notebooks will include Windows XP and, unlike some other vendors, MSI has not mentioned any plans to offer a Linux-based version so far,” DigiTimes reports.
HP 2133 Mini-Note PC with XP Pro Coming in Mid-May
Hewlett-Packard’s new HP 2133 Mini-Note PC with Windows XP Professional operating system preinstalled will be available in mid-May, Laptop Magazine reports.
The 2133 Mini-Note low-cost ultraportable is currently offered with Windows Vista Business, Vista Home Basic, or SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 OS.
ASUS Eee PC 900 Officially Announced
Asustek officially announced the Asus Eee PC 900, the second generation of company’s low-cost ultraportable laptop.
Along with other innovations, the 2.2-pound Eee PC 900 mini-notebooks provide bigger displays, larger amounts of RAM, and more data storage space, when compared to the older Eee PC (700/701) models.
Lenovo IdeaPad U110B, U110R Coming Soon
The Lenovo IdeaPad U110 11.1-inch ultraportable notebook is coming soon to the United States, according to product pages at J&R.
The 2.3-pound IdeaPad U110 will be available at J&R in at least two versions - the black U110B and the U110R with a red top cover. The both models feature the Intel Core 2 Duo L7500 low-voltage processor at 1.6GHz, 3GB of RAM, and a 120GB hard drive. The laptop, which is only 0.7-inch high, does not include a built-in optical drive.
Dell to Launch Low-Cost Mini-Laptop in June
Dell Inc. is going to release its low-cost 8.9-inch mini-laptop in June this year, The Wall Street Journal reports.
“The Dell machines seem more likely to compete with the (Asus) Eee PC, which is also aimed at consumers, than HP’s Mini-Note PC, which is being marketed to schools for classroom use. The Dell device will have an 8.9-inch display and will be priced starting at $399,” the report says.
HP 2133 Mini-Note PC Officially Launched
Hewlett-Packard has officially launched the HP 2133 Mini-Note PC, the company’s first 8.9-inch ultraportable laptop.
The notebook, aimed at education market, starts at $499. It weighs from 2.63 to 3.23 pounds, depending on configuration. It is powered by VIA’s C7-M ULV processor and the Chrome 9 integrated graphics, which manages the 8.9″ 1280 x 768 display. The clock speeds of the CPU in the HP 2133 are from 1GHz to 1.6GHz, depending on model. This laptop supports up to 2GB of DDR2 667MHz main memory, and comes with up to 160GB of hard drive storage. Optionally, there is a 64GB solid-state drive or 4GB Flash drive.
Asus Eee PC with Windows XP Now Available in U.S.
The Asus Eee PC model 4G with Windows XP operating system preinstalled is now available in the United States.
Asustek’s low-cost 7-inch ultraportable laptop with XP is in stock at Best Buy and costs $399. It can be purchased online only. The Eee PC with Microsoft’s operating system is available in white (EEEPC4G-W010X) and black (EEEPC4G-BK010X) color.
CTL Announces 2go PC Netbooks
CTL Corporation has announced the commercial availability of the 2go PC, an affordable mini laptop for children which is based on Intel’s Classmate PC “netbook”.
“The 2go PC is a 3-lb. unit based on the Intel Celeron M processor and the Intel 915GMS chipset. It has a 9-inch 800 x 480 LCD screen, and a 40GB Seagate hard drive. The notebook features a sturdy plastic case, two integrated speakers, 2 USB ports, RJ-45 10/100 LAN ports and 4-cell Lithium Ion batteries with 3 to 4-hr. typical usage time. It is Microsoft Windows XP-available and will run Linux as well. The computers will also feature built in webcams and memory card readers.” CTL says.
