Lenovo ThinkPad R61 Now Available

Lenovo ThinkPad R61Lenovo ThinkPad R61 notebook PC, featuring next generation Intel “Santa Rosa” Centrino platform and 14.1-inch widescreen display, is now available for pre-order at Lenovo’s web site. The R61 laptops incorporate new Intel GM965/PM965 chipsets and Core 2 Duo T7100, T7300, T7500 and T7700 processors with 800MHz font-side bus and up to 2.4GHz clock speed, as well as wireless N in select models.

Intel GM965 chipset-based Lenovo ThinkPad R61 models have Intel GMA X3100 integrated graphics and 1280×800 screen resolution, while the notebooks with PM965 chipset use NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M dedicated graphics and have resolution of 1440×900.

The R61 notebooks support up to 4GB of main DDR2 memory. Although “Santa Rosa” enables the use of 800MHz RAM, the offered memory modules are at 667MHz. Lenovo’s R61 comes with up to 160GB hard drive. Regarding optical devices, there is choice of combo drive or DVD burner, while the models with Blu-Ray DVD burner will be available starting in July 2007, according to earlier reports. For faster boot-up times and applications loading, there is also an optional 1GB of Intel Turbo Memory, which is the one of the novelties of the new Centrino platform.

Along with Gigabit Ethernet and a standard 56k modem, the select models feature wireless N (IEEE 802.11n draft) connectivity and an optional Bluetooth.

Lenovo ThinkPad R61 weighs starting at 5.2 lbs. It comes with Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit, but there is also a Windows XP option available.

Lenovo ThinkPad R61 has a starting price of $955.00.
