Asus X555LA-SI50203H Affordable Laptop with Intel Core i5 CPU

The Asus X555LA-SI50203H is an all-round value laptop with a standard-size 15.6-inch display and decent internal components.

The X555LA-SI50203H offers the 1366-by-768 display resolution, so you won’t be able to see detail-rich picture like on Full HD 1080p displays. The 1366×768 is however a standard thing on budget laptops, as same as a lack of IPS wide viewing angle technology. Touchscreen isn’t supported.

The plastic-cladded laptop with metallic-like finish, a full-size keyboard with numeric pad, and fairly big trackpad carries inside the Intel Core i5-5200U dual-core processor. It’s perfectly suitable for your day-to-day computing chores – web browsing, media playback, productivity software and such, as described in this review. Its integrated Intel HD 5500 graphics we reviewed recently can serve well for light gaming. We applaud Asus for delivering 6GB of RAM and a 1-Terabyte hard drive instead of a usual 4GB / 500GB setup. This means more headroom while multitasking and more space for your movies, music, documents, and other files. A DVD optical drive is included, too.

Other hardware highlights are a stereo speaker system, a low-quality 0.3MP VGA webcam, one USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI and VGA video connections for external displays, a mic/headphones audio jack, and media card reader.

We have no information about battery life, but the included battery with low 37 WHr capacity doesn’t look promising.

The notebook weighs in at five pounds and measures 1″ in profile.

The Asus X555LA-SI50203H still ships with old Windows 8.1 operating system, but you are able to upgrade it to the latest Windows 10 for free.
