Dell Inspiron i5566-3000BLK-PUS 15.6″ Touch-Screen Laptop (Intel Core i3, 6GB RAM, 1TB HDD, Black)
The Dell Inspiron i5566-3000BLK-PUS is an everyday home-use 15.6-inch laptop with added touch-screen functionality. It’s based on an Intel Core i3 processor, 6GB of system memory, and a 1-Terabyte hard drive with Windows 10 Home operating system installed.
The display supports multi-touch finger input, but on the other hand it’s a budget-class LCD panel. The screen resolution is 1366×768 pixels as opposed to sharper 1920×1080 Full HD. Also, the display is TN type, meaning narrower viewing angles than on those based on IPS. To accompany the touch-screen, Dell has provided a full-size keyboard with numeric pad and a multi-touch trackpad. There’s no info on backlight for the keyboard, so this feature is apparently missing.
Inside the black chassis made of plastics, the Inspiron i5566-3000BLK-PUS carries the 7th Generation Intel Core i3-7100U CPU as the heart of the system. The chip is in the mid range part of the laptop processor spectrum. This means flawless performance for the usual daily computing duties. When you add 6GB of RAM and integrated Intel HD 620 graphics to the mix, you get an excellent system for web surfing, media consumption, work in productivity applications, and some casual gaming. The weakest point of the system is storage speed, since it relies on old hard drive technology instead of newer solid state drive. On the other hand, 1TB capacity offers a plenty of space for music, movies, and other locally stored files.
Dell Inspiron i5566-3000BLK-PUS has a built-in DVD optical drive, stereo speakers, a web camera, 802.11N Wi-Fi wireless (no support for faster 802.11AC standard), an Ethernet LAN network jack, Bluetooth, HDMI external display output, one USB 3.0 port and two USB 2.0 ports for peripheral connectivity, an SD media card reader, and a combined microphone / headphones audio port.
There’s no info on battery life. This type of a laptop usually provides 4-5 hours of battery life with normal use.
The i5566-3000BLK-PUS weighs in at 5.2 pounds and is 0.9″ thick.

SLOW
Erin –
Why is this laptop so slow? I bought it in 2017 and to this day it takes forever to start and load the programs. What can I do to speed it up?

The best thing you can do is to replace the hard disk drive with a solid state drive. I’m sure the HDD slowness is the biggest bottleneck of the system. The difference between HDDs and SSDs is huge regarding Windows start up times and program loading, as well as in other operations. Furthermore, you can upgrade RAM, but the effect won’t be as noticeable as the SSD upgrade.

Hello, I have this exact model with a 6GB RAM i3, please what is the maximum ram size I can ugrade it to? Can I double it to 12 or even 16

A single 6GB laptop RAM module doesn’t exist. So, you have 2 RAM slots – one with 4GB and one 2GB. You can for instance remove the 2GB module and insert 8GB for a total of 12GB or remove both and insert 2 x 8GB for a total of 16GB. Regards!

Can you play FIFA 18 smoothly with it ?

I have tested FIFA 17 on the same Intel HD 620 graphics here: http://laptoping.com/gpus/product/intel-hd-620-review-graphics-of-7th-gen-core-u-series-kaby-lake-cpus/
I don’t think FIFA 18 is much different, so during gameplay you can expect up to 30 fps maximum on lowest settings and 720p resolution.
So, I would say it won’t run smoothly, but it will be playable.
Tassy Emmanuel –
Pls what is the size of the video memory of this laptop.

Danijel Z –
The laptop doesn’t have dedicated video memory. Its Intel HD 620 integrated GPU uses the main memory (RAM) for graphics purposes. How much of main RAM memory it takes depends on a task and changes dynamically.

Where do you plug in earphones? I’m assuming the earphones must be adaptable to a USB port?

Danijel Z –
The laptop has the standard 3.5mm audio jack, so you can plug in your earphones into it. There’s no need for a headphones-to-USB adapter.

Does this have Movie Maker installed?
Notify me of replies Unwatch this thread
Danijel Z –
The last time I checked Movie Maker wasn’t available on Microsoft’s site at all. Apparently it’s a discontinued program. But I was able to find it online as a part of Windows Essentials 2012 suite. Movie Maker works well under my Windows 10 Home, but it isn’t a built-in part of Windows. You have to install it yourself.

is it a 2-in-1 laptop? How far back does the screen recline? Are there any dell pens compatible with it, if so which?

Danijel Z –
Hi, it ins’t a 2-in-1 but rather a standard laptop with added touchscreen functionality. It can be opened up to 135 degrees. You can use ordinary capacitive pens with this notebook. I don’t know if Dell offers them, but you can get third party pens. They are inexpensive and easy to find. Please keep in mind that capacitive pens (with no electronics inside) don’t provide advanced functionalities like pressure sensitivity. These features are available with active digitizer pens, which don’t work with this notebook model.
