The Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5300 is yet another pre-Black Friday laptop deal, but it stands out with a price of only $270.
Featuring a common 15.6-inch 1366-by-768 display and the AMD Fusion E-300 processor, the Satellite C655D-S5300 is a spacious laptop but its performance is not great.
The E-300 has dual CPU cores, but it scores only 576 points in PassMark benchmark. For comparison, the netbook-use Intel Atom N570 has a score of 644. The latest Fusion E-450 has a PassMark CPU mark of 746, while the basic Intel Core i3, the i3-2310M, achieves 2620. By the way, the laptop specifications on Best Buy list the E-300 as a 1.6GHz CPU, but it actually runs at 1.3GHz.
However, it doesn’t mean that the Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5300 is not suitable for a non-demanding notebook use, such as web, email, or text editing. Furthermore, the laptop has the Radeon HD 6310 integrated graphics, which is capable of 3D gaming on lower settings in many popular game titles, as well as a dedicated 1080p HD video decoder. Because of that, it’s a shame the notebook doesn’t have an HDMI port, but you can output HD videos to an external screen via VGA.
Installed RAM in the model C655D-S5300 is 4GB and hard drive storage is 320GB. You can burn discs with a built-in DVD writer.
Selection of other ports is a crippled one and includes a pair of USB 2.0 connectors, a multi-in-one media card reader, and Ethernet LAN port. Internet connection is also possible via Wi-Fi and you can do video chats thanks to a built-in web camera with microphone.
Design of the notebook is plain black and the keyboard is an old-school one, contrary to isle-style keyboards used in many newer laptops.
The dimensions of the C655D-S5300 are 15-by-9.8-by-1.5 inches and it weighs 5.5 pounds. These measures are common for a budget 15.6″ laptop.
The included six-cell battery can run almost six hours on a single charge, according to specifications, but in a real life use it’s probably less.
Version of Windows 7 in this configuration is Home Premium and the included warranty is 1-year limited.
If you are interested in the Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5300 model at the price of $270, you can get one at Best Buy by November 19th. That’s the expiration date for the offer.

it worked great until my daughter spilled liquid on the keyboard. Now the keyboard doesn’t work and Toshiba wants $240 for replacement. They also say the warranty expired in SEPTEMBER 2009 yet I bought it from Best Buy 11/11
I know this post is two years lateIf you still have the laptop, head to youtube this is a quick fix if the keyboard is the only thing damaged by the juice. Order a new keyboard and replace, keyboards are generally expensive.
Got this laptop and it runs great. Just a few little slow downs occasionally but nothing major.
