Can the 4GB of RAM be swapped out for 8 GB or 16 GB?
Or did Dell solder the existing 4GB to the mobo?

There’s a single RAM slot inside, so RAM isn’t soldered on the motherboard. You can put in an 8GB or 16GB module instead of 4GB, but I’m not sure if the 16GB modules (new and rare on the market) are supported by the laptop. Here’s a RAM upgrade guide for the Dell Inspiron 15 3000 series: http://laptoping.com/dell-inspiron-15-3000-ram-hard-drive-upgrade-guide.html

The laptop has only the basic Intel HD 5500 integrated graphics. It’s good only for light gaming, as described here: http://laptoping.com/gpus/product/intel-hd-5500-graphics-reviews-and-specs/
