Question

I am looking to use this computer to start a UI/UX Springboard Bootcamp course. I need to run Adobe XD but I don’t want to pull this computer our of Windows S mode unless I know for sure the computer can handle it. I don’t want it to become unusable, ridiculously slow, especially once I have to run that and security software I don’t need to run in S mode. I’m debating buying another computer dedicated just to graphic design if this one can’t handle it and just use this for other basic tasks like word processing. If it can handle it though, it would save me a ton of money. I appreciate the help.

Hi, I must say I’m not an Adobe XD user, but the Intel Core i5-1035G1 in the 15-DY1023DX is a very capable all-purpose processor. And, Adobe XD doesn’t seem to be a very hardware demanding program by today’s standards, according to their system requirements. So, it doesn’t make sense to invest in a laptop with faster, pricier, and more battery consuming processor, such as the Intel Core i5 / i7 H-series you can find in gaming & high-performance class laptops.

My main concern was the relatively weak Intel UHD graphics, but now I see XD doesn’t utilize the graphics processor much to speed up operation. And Intel UHD also meets the system requirements.
12GB RAM is also a very decent size, well above the required 4GB.
And the laptop uses an SSD storage drive, so you don’t have to deal with slow HDD performance.
What bothers me is the TN display of the laptop. I personally recommend avoiding TN (narrow viewing angle) displays for everyday work, let alone for graphics design and such. But, regarding the internals, my opinion is that the 15-DY1023DX is adequate for Adobe XD. If you plan to use this laptop hooked up to a good external monitor, then I can recommend it for your work.
